How do these superior vinyls (e.g £20 per metre) stand up to things like stiletto heels? I have had cheaper vinyl (£100 for whole room stuff)before in my kitchen and ended up putting loads of stiletto shaped dents in it.

I have laminate in my bathroom at the moment, it wasn't specific bathroom flooring but it was glued and has lasted me 7 years before starting to lift near the sink and toilet ( had 5 year guarantee) so I can't really complain. But reading this thread has made me have a rethink and consider vinyl but only if it really is quite hardwearing?

I know I could just take my shoes off, but I probably will do it for a few weeks then end up forgetting again so I would rather just get something that is resistant
  • Hi there,
In general, stiletto heels and floors don't get on well together, the pounds per square inch pressure that is exerted on the tiny area of floor is massive.
A damaged stiletto heel will cause even more problems.
It's a trade off, if you want stiletto heel proof flooring, try ceramics . . . if you want the comfort of vinyl, take 'em off or walk on your toes!
In general, if you go for a more solid (rather than cushioned) product, you should get better results.
    Hope this helps.
If you live anywhere near Chester I can show you the type of material that I stock which would probably do the trick.
    Good luck

Most flooring stores (certainly independant ones) will let you take a sample vinyl tile home with you so you could see what it's like to tread on in various heels :) You can also order sample tiles direct from Amtico's website.

In my last flat, we had Amtico in the kitchen, bathroom and hallway and it was fantastic. I would definitely recommend it.

I must bow to your superior knowledge . . . . . and dump the 2,000 sq mtrs of vinyl planks currently in my warehouse, all of which has a 1.00mm wear layer.
