Take a trip into your local carpet shop and have a look at the fantastic ranges of cushionfloor.....they are mostly made with slip resistant surfaces too, and the wood designs are very very good. Much better than having laminate in the bathroom, laminate is a floating floor so you will have to leave expansion gaps for it to expand, and then you probably will be folling around the bottom of the toilet, pedestal with unsightly sealant. The cushionfloor is fitted up flush to the walls etc etc
:confused:I have nothing better to do!!!!

Ours is from B&Q, their special order Aqualoc, is 'water & splash resistent, but relies on you putting it down properly. Hence ours having an area where it is lifting!

The also do Aqualoc super (or similar) which is better, but less choice of styles.

    think carefully before doing this.
not recommended, and dont trust the companies advertising blurb.
i much prefer to use proper ceramic floor tiles instead.
    Get some gorm.

Any laminated can be used in a bathroom , even the normal stuff is OK so just look for a nice dark one you like and fit it yourself . . . . no worries . . . no need to go for waterproof type as this is only a benefit if , for example , you overfill your bath and completely flood the floor and even then I reckon it`d warp and buckle .
If you fit the normal type , and I speak from experience, it`ll be no problem as long as you don`t leave HUGE pools of water laying on it.

Another point to remember is that humidity in a bathroom will probably cause as much damage to your floor so remember to keep the room well ventilated

  • I am having a new bathroom and wanted laminate. My fitter said "no" apparently even the stuff sold as moisture proof bubbles after a certain period. He said if you don't want tile get a quality vinyl instead.

I would have to agree with the above saying that vinyl is far better for the bathroom. I work for a flooring firm and all products are sold as WATER RESISTANT... and nearly all are suitable for bathrooms. Basically if you have a tiny pool of water and leave it there for a length of time it will cause your floor to warp, hence water resistant.

save yourself some money..... go for vinyl.... its cheaper, nicer, cleans easier and lasts long

if you need advice on types etc feel free to pm me

We have had Aqualoc in our bathroom for 4 years and have had no problems with it. There are no signs of lifting or warping but I suppose there are only 2 of us so its not such a high traffic area.
