    Ditch the USB modem and get a router, the Netgear DG834N I have had good service from.
  • Sounds like you could have a problem with low SNR. I was using a Linksys router, then tried a Netgear, then phoned my ISP who told me straight away that I needed one of the newer type routers that are able to filter line noise better and I bought a Speedtouch 585 wireless router on their recommendation.

    The Speedtouch immediately solved the problem and I haven't had any disconnections since and that has been consistent now for 4 months.
