Advice about car repair

Options
got my car in a garage now to be repaired.
was due to pick it up yesterday but got a phonecall to say there'd been 'an accident'!
turned out one of the mechanics put the car into 1st instead of reverse and drove into an object that's left a 2x2" dent on the front bonnet just above where the bonnet catch would be.
the garage has gave their sincerest apologies and said they're going to have my car in another couple of days to repair and paint it and are going to notify my insurance.
they say they will be giving me a 5 year guarantee with the repair.
i feel i should be getting more in a way of compensation though. should this be the case?
thanks in advance

Other than them loaning you a car in the interim I don't see what else you would get to be honest. Its an accident, an unfortunate one, but still an accident.

You say they are notifying your insurance though, I hope they don't want you to make a claim for it?

What more could you expect really? OK ideally it should never have happened, but accidents do. They are fixing it without any hassle, and giving you a 5 year guarantee-which I would assume they wouldn't have to provide and are doing so as are courtesy (the warranty aspect).
The only thing I would consider is if you need the car ask for a courtesy car whilst yours is in for the extra couple of days-unless they have already given you one.
Out of my mind. Back in 5 minutes.

Why do you expect anything more?

cos i put it in to get fixed, not damaged more!
already got a courtest car off them through the insurance.
my problem is the fact it's above the bonnet catch and my fear of it malfunctioning while on a motorway

Right, so if they handed you some money your fear of the bonnet flying open will suddenly go away?

Slightly OT, but I drive a Clio, and was aware of the problems. My bonnet catch was the best greased one in Stoke, it was lovely. Got a recall letter so duly took it in to our local dealer.

lad appears with a rag, opens the bonnet, wipes off all my lovely grease, gives it a squirt with WD40 and tells me "all done"

Had to re grease the lot when I got back home lol

i saw them on watchdog using wd40 which is a releasing fulid not a lubricant.
so yes it free's the mecanism but long term has no lubricating properties.
renault are heading for corporate manslaughter if they dont pull the finger out!!
  • I use both wd40 and a tub of grease. grease attracts dirt and things, wd40 loosens locks etc.
