Services you can pay for by premium sms text on your mobile?
Hi just wondering what kind of services are available by premium rate sms text on uk pay as you go networks?
I mean services you can pay for by premium sms text from your mobile phone credit, not services you have not subscribed to please!
For example you can buy Jamster credit or you can pay for games downloads.
Thanks.;)

I was about to start a thread about this, specifically with the intent of finding places I can use the £7 free on Virgin sims with.
Let's make a list.
If anyone knows any, let me know and I'll edit this post and add them to the list. There are about a bajillion sites selling ringtones and stuff that you pay for via the credit on your phone but I've no interest in ringtones, so I won't be looking for them and listing them. I'll still add any you find to the list though.
(V) http://www.jamster.co.uk/ - Mobile wallpapers, ringtones, games etc. Go through Quidco too.
http://www.voipcheap.com/ - Cheap calls and SMS via online voip and geographical numbers.
http://www.boltblue.com/ - Ringtones, wallpapers, games etc.
http://www.oshells.eu/ - IRC psybnc hosting, eggdrops, linux shells.
(V) http://www.splashplastic.com/ - Pre-pay maestro card. Buy the card via SMS for £5. Go through Quidco for £10 quidco as well.
http://www.wippit.com/ - Music/Video downloads.
http://www.video-c.co.uk/ - Music, ringtones.
http://www.chargebox.com/ - These are interesting. Lockers in train stations etc with chargers built in for ipods and mobiles etc. Lock your mobile in it, grab something to eat, come back and it's charged.
http://www.newcastle.gov.uk/core.nsf/a/parkandpaybyphone?opendocument - Parking in Newcastle.
http://www.thecloud.net/ - Wi-Fi hotspots.
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/congestioncharging/6744.aspx - London congestion charges.
http://www.blinky.co.uk/buynow.php - Some weird keyring thing.
http://www.oscar.org.uk/about/donate.htm - Christian charity.
http://www.salmonreel.com/ - Ringtones. (Appears to be exclusively recordings of the noise fishing reels make...?)
http://www.givitago.com/index.php - Charity lottery and bingo games.
http://www.runescape.com/ - MMORPG.
http://multihosts.net/ - Web hosting.
http://www.weunlockphones.co.uk/ - Mobile unlocking.
http://techwarrior.co.uk/ - Online game.
http://www.cassiopeian.co.uk/ - Credits for IMVU, the 3D chat thing.
http://www.habbo.co.uk/ - Another chat site.
http://www.xeodomains.mobi/ - Domain registration.
http://www.puzzlepirates.com/ - Online games.
http://www.friendsreunited.co.uk/ - Social networking.
http://www.peopleofsantiago.co.uk/ - A band. You can buy their songs.
http://www.7digital.com/ - Music store.
http://www.tuxedocard.com/ - Prepay debit/credit cards. Pay the £9.95 to buy the card via SMS.
http://betnow.co.uk/ - Sports gambling.
http://www.cashbackkings.com/phones-%26-telecoms/ringtones-%2B-accessories/brands/s164 - Ringtones and stuff. Cashback site like Quidco, so get cashback on top of the ringtones or whatever.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=278583 - Charities that accept donations via SMS. A lot of the info on the thread's quite old, so it might be out of date but it's worth checking.
(V) http://www.mp3va.com/ - One of those Russian MP3 sites.
http://www.storytelecom.com/ - Dialthrough cheap calls, cheap international SMS.
http://linkstochina.com/RingChina/text-topup-phone-card.shtml - More dialthrough calls.
http://www.netlog.com - Social networking site. You can buy credits that allow you to do extra stuff on the site like putting your photo on the front page. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -

From the attempts I've made, and confirmed by talking to customer services, Virgin don't support short-code sms. I don't know if this is all or just some of them0 -

I've only done the Splash Plastic card, and it worked fine. I'll add a (V) to indicate ones that've worked for me on Virgin.
edit: and Jamster. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
Tuxedo (prepaid card). It'll cost you a tenner and a text. You should get £10 cashback from quidco and be able to make another £3.50 when you get the card.
BetNow - betting by premium sms - often have introductory free £10 bet offers.
& other Jamster types are on cashbackkings (but some take a LOT of credit)
On the old easymobile thread there should be a huge list of charity donation possibilities.0 -
Can't see Jamerster on CBK but maybe I'm being !!!!!!.They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0

http://www.txtdomz.co.uk/
- 6 condoms discreetly delivered for £4.500 -
Nice, thanks.
I'll add 'em to the list.
Ah, you have to be logged into CBK to see those offers. I hadn't signed up.
Also: How on earth did I not spot that typo? Jamerster? :ololThey say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
Thanks to weegie.geek  for starting a list, was beginning to think nobody knew what I was talking about??
Got an addition for the list:
http://www.storytelecom.com/mobile.php
cheap local & international calls from your mobile, £5 credit for £5 premium sms text, (per minute billing).
Note:
My idea is that all the networks are AFRAID of allowing their customers to easily spend AIRTIME CREDIT on 3rd party services which they don`t directly benefit from!
Any thought on this??
BUT ITS THE CUSTOMERS CREDIT irrelevant if they supplied some of it Free! lol :rotfl:
For Example Virgin not allowing premium sms (see earlier post in this thread)
This Thread is GROWING!! NICELY...:T:j Bookie Basher! Bonus Bagger! Freebie King!:rotfl:0 -
Cheers ali
I don't blame the network for not liking it really. I'm sure they get a small cut of the premium text fees, but it won't be as large a cut as they'd get if the customer spent all their credit on texting. Like a few hundred bytes of data costs 10p to deliver. Scoundrels. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
Added Netlog. Any more? They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0
