Is it OSPS or me that has their sums wrong? Help!

I'm beginning to curse the day I decided to get a redemption deal, they're clearly designed to be as confusing as possible in the hope that punters fail in getting all or some of the money back (I knew that going in, but still...)

So here's the deal, I went for the Nokia 6630 on Three at onestopphoneshop. It's an 18 month contract on the Talk&Text 600 package. The offer is still on the site (but it now has one month extra free compared to my deal): http://www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk/ourdeals.php?PROV=THREE&OFF=36630B&TAR=3T60018

If it is an 18 month contract and 12 months are free, that means I end up paying for just six. Right? OSPS mention the 6 months half price from the network but that's just a little sneaky as they include these months in the months they give you free.

So they should repay 6x15 + 6x30 = 270 (oh and as a tenner is also thrown in...) £280. Right? And as they do it in three stages: 280/3 = £93.33. Right?

I'm hoping I'm right, but they state three (re)payments of £65 and an auto chequeback of £7 (?!?) after a month.

I'm thinking they've gotten it wrong on the network offer as it states 'REDEMPTION OFFE12 months 1/2 £ l/r" when in actual fact Three are doing 6.

Can any whizzkids get to the bottom of this? TIA

I thought 3 were only offering 3 months at 1/2 price, i just got my first bill in and its 3 months 1/2 price on mine, i havent heard of them offering 6 months 1/2 price:confused: and cant seem to locate on the site the breakdown, i have recentley found there deals to be a bit confusing so have avoided them. What paperwork have you got from them to back up the offer and did you get a screenshot of the breakdown when you ordered the phone? Also when did you take the contract out? Could you still cancel and get away from them?

Ok tried doing the sums and they still dont add up:confused: if they say network 12 months 1/2 price plus there cashback of 3x36 plus 7 would mean 18@30= 540 (less 12 months 1/2) 180 - 36-36-36-7 = 245 against 12 months free and paying 30 x 6 months = 180 so maybe there is a few redemptions left out as the differance is £65 as i said check your paper work see what that says.

  • According to the webpage I grabbed (got a screen grab as well) at the time I ordered (and what was linked to to URL I posted - but that changed) it did say 6 months 1/2 price line rental from the network.

I took the contract out 3 weeks ago so don't think I'll be able to get out of it (and it'd be too much hassle anyway). But if it really is them that's messed up on the arithmitic (sp?) then I'll really go to town.

We all know they make these offers as complicated as possible to get out of having to pay customers back but this is ridiculous. There should be consumer laws against this trickery

Give them a phone and see whats on there screens and what cashback they have due and if it doesnt tally up you argue your point and go to trading standards see what they say too, im just glad i got my 6680 with cash back in hand and 3 months 1/2 from 3 so i have all my cashback now;) without having to go through what you are.
