Virgin Media/Contract Names/Quidco

I have two questions and I was hoping some fellow MSE's could help me out.

1) Currently the phone line and broadband (BT) are in my Dad's name. We have quite a few problems with BT broadband but he is always too busy to ring them up and sort it out.
Q1: Is it possible for the phone line/rental to be in his name and I take out the broadband in my name with a different supplier.

2) I see on Virgin's website they offer broadband for £10 a month if you already have it with a different supplier (http://www.virgin.net/allyours/broadband/switch/)
Q2: Is this eligible for the £27 cash back on Quidco? (http://www.quidco.com/virgin-media/) I was just wondering as you may need to buy one of the more expensive packages to qualify.

Thanks for your help,
Nath

Does anyone know if this is possible?

    Many thanks,

Why go to such trouble? Your dad just needs to:

    - Get his MAC from BT here.

    - Sign up online with the ISP he/you wants to switch to (once he receives his MAC). It takes to 2 minutes to fill out the form, literally.

Yes, you'd get £27 cashback from Quidco for signing up to Virgin (ADSL) but I'd advice you to choose a better ISP.

Entanet resellers (UKFSN, ADSL24, etc.), Zen, IDNet are highly rated. They're currently a bit pricey though.

If you want something cheaper, look at:
    - O2 Broadband: £7.50/month for O2 contract and PAYG customers, £12.50/month otherwise
    - Sky Broadband: £0-£10 for existing Sky TV customers or new customers that subscribe to Sky TV
N.B: You can't get Sky Broadband on its own.
The true cost of something is what you give up to get it.

Because I would like to pay for it (to help clear some of the debt I owe to my parents) and so that I can sort out any problems if and when they arise. At the moment we have had a few problems with BT but he refuses to phone up as he is really busy and the call center is abroad and we haven't had much luck with them in the past.

I do have a contract with O2 but they do not cover my area, neither do Sky, they can only offer me the Connect package which is a bit rubbish.

If you don't recommend Virgin are there any other companies that do unlimited broadband for £93 a year? (12x£10per month minus Quidco £27).

I'm on the Virgin deal at £10 a month ADSL (there is also a £15 connection charge) migrated from BT took 3 month to get the Quidco £27 it did not track had to raise a ticket to chase the money, it was just paid last week.

I would rate Virgin as just about unusable my download speed as i type is 300kb yes 300kb this is what you would get with dial in. with BT it averaged 5-6MB

I only wish someone had said to me before i transferred

Don't believe anything Virgin Media say and their customer service is useless.

Only the ones you said can't get (Sky, O2 and Virgin Media (cable) ). Next cheapest ISP doing 'unlimited' is UK Online (£14.99/month). If you can't get UK Online either, go over Martin's Cheapest Broadband Providers article again to see your remaining cheap ISP options. If you want to make up your own mind on how good/bad the mentioned ISPs are, use:

    DSL Zone
    thinkbroadband
    ISPreview
