Great Cheapest Sony PSP Hunt

Woolworths (instore) are offering a 'half price' 512mb sandisk memory stick pro duo when you buy any game, bringing it down to £29.99. This offer is stickered all over the fake games boxes already on the shelves.
If you're an ebay fan this price won't excite you, but on the high street this is a very good deal. I've used a 512 stick since importing the PSP at the start of the year and it's been ideal for my 'average' travel use.0 -
how much memory does an average quality film (1h 30) take up?0
-
Using the existing PSP-compatible MPEG4 codec (ie not the latest AVC version which the UK psp will also support*), 'reasonable' quality works out at 2.5 to 3 megabytes per minute, so a 90 minute film will take 225 to 270 megabytes at 15 frames per second.
For smoother motion you'll need 30 frames per second, which increases the filesize by around 50%. You can sometimes get away with lower settings for animation, but 'quality' is a very subjective thing anyway so treat these figures as MINIMUMS.
For this reason, a 512mb card is a recommended minimum for PSP multimedia users as it will allow 2 hours of video content plus a couple of MP3 albums plus your game saves.
*This codec allows even greater compression, but I've not had a play with it yet!0 -

about £65 delivered, but Ebay would probably be the cheapest, around £55.

dont think this will be beaten. Probably the cheapest non imported psp in the UK.
you can get 20% off your first online order at the catalogue company kayslifestyle making it £144 delivered. If you want you can select the 20 or 40 weeks interest free credit as well. Plus you can get 2% cashback via linemypocket or 4% at greasypalm (although there small print says 10% off for new customers unlike the 20% listed on the kays site). As an extra bonus you also get entered into a draw to win £50,000.
The only catch I can see is that its a 6 week delivery lead time and the 20% discount doesn't seem to get mentioned as you go through the checkout process so I assume they do the discount manually when they process the order.
*edit** (found this extra bit of info)
Save 20% off your first order
If you are a new customer you will automatically receive 20% off your first accepted order. The amount after discount will be charged to your debit/credit card, or shown on your 1st statement.

Have been told that UK psp's are shipping with 1.52 firmware and the console contains a sticker advising to boot up psp with demo disk, which upgrades firmware to 2.0.
"Fixes" may be available for 1.52 within a few days, so may be advisable not to upgrade firmware.
Have not confirmed this, but think it would be wise to hold off for at least a few days.
