Depends whether or not you like to gamble. Could be v.expensive if you loose.0

I have annual multi-trip worldwide. It's listed on MSE site at £32, but I travel to the USA several times a year.
Otherwise if I only intended to go to France once I probably wouldn't bother with insurance, and just take my European heath Insurance card (new E111 substitute).0 -

The EHIC does not provide for repatriation.
It would be very expensive to get home if you were unable to fly as a normal passenger, all because you didn't spend less than £10 on insurance.Gone ... or have I?0 -
My advice would be yes, we have the multitrip policies advised here and had to activate a policy recently when my other half was in the states and we had to get him home quickly due to a family bereavement.
The E111's are great for healthcare, the UK have a receprical agreement with France so you can receive 'emergency' care for free.
I would still get it as it can be really expensive to get home in an emergency, definitely worth the money
Hope that helps, LornaThanks for the advice Martin! :money:Member no. 920 - Proud to be dealing with our debts0 -

Me and OH went to Lanzarote last year for a week and the price for insurance was only £11!
It's worth it just for peace of mind. You might only be going for 4 days, but what if your luggage goes missing, or you are delayed for a whole day etc etc.
We got ours with these people http://www.flexicover.co.uk/ but I think we went through holidaysupermarket.com for all the quotes.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Do you need travel insurance? Yes, yes, yes, and YES.
It's really not worth not getting it to save a few pounds.
Always got my travel insurance with the Post Office when my son and I went to Disneyland, Paris.
Enjoy Paris.0 -

Hi Patricia,
There are various risks you face - such as a close family member dying and not being able to go at short notice.
But one of the biggest costs is repatriation if you can't travel normally.
This might occur if say you break your leg or suffer some other accident or illness.
If you can't sit normally then you will need 9 aircraft seats to lie down, plus possibly a nurse to travel with you.
This can cost tens of thousands of pounds.
Similarly bringing you back if you died would cost a lot.
If you got very ill and couldn't be transported then you may well want family member to visit you and they may want hotels etc.
It's possible for a claim to run into TENs of thousands of pounds.
At then end of the day it's up to you but you have to consider what you would do if you were faced with a bill for tens of thousands.
Most likely your family won't leave you in France to die so you are possibly putting a huge burden of cost on your family.
As I say up to you but I think the general consensus is that you would be crazy to travel uninsured.
If you are only going once then get a single trip policy.
Likely to cost about £10.0
