I like how the OP asks for help regarding smokes and gets a lecture about health and taxes?:rotfl:
I have to agree with Deegee.. why not just hunt for the 1p flights and save even more
i wanted a destination this weekend and wanted to be home for lunch, no point spending money wasting a day when mission achieved in the first airport shop0 -

They cost the NHS more each year and also have a massive affect on family and social life
I dont see anyone banning that...Just keep making it cheaper to get more and more people hooked and ruin more lives. I find a drunk more offensive than a ciggie
I'm not having a go at moderate drinkers
BTW I do both
I agree with everything you say.
I just find it incredibly sad that people take the trouble to go to Europe simply to stock up on their drug of choice, and then come straight back without appreciating the country that they have visited. I think travel is wonderful, and the availability of cheap flights is potentially a great benefit, but this kind of junky tourism is a real abuse of it. If only tax and duty could be harmonised across Europe.0 -
If we didnt live in rip off Britain people wouldnt have to go elsewhere to buy cheap ciggies and electrical goods. Its well worth the cost of flight/ferry to save the sort of extra money. There is zero chance the goverment will reduce the tax in line with the rest of the EU on anything, So until hell freezes over and taxes are reduced what alternative is there? This goes for everything ot just ciggiesIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0

When I was smoking (I will have stopped 2 yrs in July:j) I never paid for a pack in Britain. On average Id return from Spain with around 25-30 cartons (My wife didnt smoke so I used her allowance too) so the saving was around £500 -£600 on what Id spend in the UK. The savings justified and covered a boozy weekend on the costas. There are only 3 colors, 10 digits, and 7 notes; its what we do with them that's important.0

Yes, this is something the Union Jack flag-wavers conveniently forget.
The UK Government is very quick to raise taxes here to marry up with what's happening in the EU (the Conservative administration added VAT to fuel bills because "the rest of Europe pays it").
But they refuse to use the same basis to lower our taxes.
Hence, I'm more than happy to give my money to the French and Belgian Governments whenever I booze cruise. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0
