Sorry my mistake its ctrl f8 if you want the computer to go into safe bootup mode. Ps there is a good chance that by doing this you can bypass the user password if the administrator one hasn't already been assigned.0

I have at work a boot CD called Winternals ERD Commander 2005.
It isn't cheap, but if you know someone that has a copy, it includes a tool called "locksmith" that allows you to reset the password for any account. I used it on at least two occasions at work, and it always did the job.0 -
Or just download ophcrack which is free and will crack the password as well.
However as it's a second hand laptop and the OP has a Windows CD I'd still just re-install Windows. You don't want all the crap the previous owner has put on there and it will run better after a clean install. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
True, I'd definitely format the hard drive as well. It's probably not partitioned the way I like anyway, and I don't want the Google/Yahoo/MSN toolbars crap
