Click Start - Run.., type in "regsvr32 urlmon.dll" without the quotes and click OK. Then close and reopen your browser.

Instead of using the M$ Java Virtual Machine embedded in IE, go here and download/install Sun Java. It works better. You can then set is a default in 'Set Program Access and Defaults.'

Can do, won't do any harm.

Just to be clear, which Norton product do you have? Is it Internet Security or just NAV? And which year version? Go to http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/consumer.html, select your product and version, go into the knowledge base and search for block. The problem could be ad blocking.

My reply #9 was for OP.

I'm not clear from your description which browser you are using when you can't access those secure sites. Is it MSN Explorer or Internet Explorer?

What, if anything, is displayed on the web page when you try to access those sites?

What OS and browser version are you using?

hiya, i have windows xp, and use internet explorer
a page saying 'page cannot be displayed' comes on when i try to access these sites.
after signing on to msn explorer a window saying 'unable to connect , there may be a problem with our service or your internet browser'
however, i can get to the home page of msn thru internet explorer but i cannot get access to hotmail as the same page is displayed again.
also, sometimes i get the information bar alert underneath the info bar saying 'info bar alert, a pop-up blocked or file download that might not be safe'.
thanks chippy minto for your help!!!!!!
    Nice to save.

had a look at all the help pages that mention script blocking / java etc, but seem to have done everything i can do.

I appreciate all your help, cheers
