ohh gosh. Well i finally managed to get my insurance sorted. The problem was that Alloys are counted as a modification, so if you dont declare it on your insurance your documents might be invalid. Me being the honest person that i am, as soon as i found this out, i rang the insurance company to tell them. but because i am an inexpereinced driver (only had a my license since Novemeber) they said they wouldnt cover me. In the end managed to get a good policy with Admiral. but i wonder how many other people dont consider their alloys to be modifications??? Anyway. Thank you very much for the advice. The debt collection agency gave me 72 hours to send them my letter!! a bit different to your 28 days. Im going to send the letter 1st class today, along with the e-mail from e.on that says the Council tax letter is sufficiant proof, and also send the same letter to E.on. Fingers crossed.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0

Glad you've got sorted...let me know what you get back from the debt collections Agency in the way of a reply, I will know what to expect then...I hope this is the end of it for you and your proof is sufficient to make them leave you alone.Don't believe everything you think.

got an email from e.on today saying they were suspending any further action on the account until 31st march. That gives me some hope. I'm going to forward a copy to the debt collection agency tomorrow.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0

Yes !!!!!! We received another letter from E.on (actually the ONLY letter from e.on as the previous one had been from Capquest Debt recovery) this one asked inexplicably for £47.88, I said to my Dad we could just pay it and be done with them, but he said no....he didn't owe them anything so why should he !! This letter at last gave me an e mail address and a name I could actually contact....so I e mailed with all the details and today got an e mail back saying because of the age of the debt they would not be persuing it. They did however say that he owed the money because they had no record of the cancellation of his Staywarm contract from March 2006 to March 2007. I have a letter from my Nephew stating that he owned the house from March 2006 and we know we cancelled the account. Anyway it's a result.
One thing this debacle has done is introduce me to this site which I am really enjoying and have found loads of useful information. I will keep logging into this thread so let me know how you get on. AnneDon't believe everything you think.

hello,
I also have made some progress. I got a letter over the weekend, also from an actual person at E.on, although the grammar in it was terrible, there were at least 8 major errors. anyway they confirm that they have received my letter and proof that i was no longer at the property for most of the time listed, although the letter i sent then confirmed i moved out on the 25th August, the letter they sent me states, we have confirmed that you moved out on the 8th September, so i will have to ring the person that sent it and explain. However they confirmed that the matter was suspended with the debt collection agency, but they just called me. It was funny that i stunned them in to silence with my opening statement, i got a letter this weekend from E.on confirming that they were reviewing the case, they said they have spoken to you, would you like me to send you a copy of the letter. To which the reply was about a 5 second pause and then a, no its ok we will phone them. So i then said goodbye. Hopefully be the last time i hear from them. Fingers crossed. Glad it’s all working out in the end, but still for our details to be passed to a debt collection agency, without any attempt to contact us direct. It is still just awful.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0
