Anyone used laundry balls instead of soap powder for their laundry. We saw some on QVC last night and hubby was very impressed but i'm not so sure, would like to do more research first before i invest in them.0

I know Lakeland do them and others but don`t know how much or if they work.I`ve noticed you can get them for a tumble drier now.

I watched them on QVC last night as well (wot a load of saddo's we are LOL) I was seriously tempted even though I ordered them about 10 years ago and they were !!!!!!. I don't know how they get those results on the telly. I have never ordered any cleaning products from QVC that I have been happy with, I think it must be that simulated dirt they use. It hasn't stopped me ordering the cheaper version from my Kleeneze man this morning tho (sometimes money is like water through me fingers:o ) Will try to remember to post back and let you know how they do (not holding out much hope ere)Life's a beach! Well my kleeneze man delivered my Laundry Ball this afternoon.
The instruction booklet says to use 1 ball for upto 3kg of washing and 2 balls for larger loading machines. My machine is a 10kg but I only have the one ball LOL (a bit like Hitler hehehehe) so we will have to see how it goes.
They are supposed to last upto 60 washes. That's a 15 min wash, 10 min rinse and 5 min spin. So this is the length programme I am using them on first. A guess in a front-loading tumbler type machine with longer cycles they will not last the full 60 washes.
I'm currently washing a dirty doormat on a warm wash/cold rinse/permapress cycle. So I will post back the results once it has dried.
Hark! I hear the machine beep it must be starting a spin. OOHHH this is exciting.
Results tomorrow!Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
I had one of these before and gave it up as a bad job. It just didn't do justice to my washing. I'd far rather use the washing soda mix for my laundry.0

WASHING BALL UPDATE
Using one Kleeneze Wash Ball (I should really be using two balls at a time for my size washer but I only have the one)
TRIAL ONE
A very dirty cotton 'dirt grabber' type doormat.
(10 min warm wash/permapress agitation)
This mat does not always come clean first time using soap powder so it was a toughy to trial. Using wash balls came out clean first time.
TRIAL TWO
Mixed load of pastels.
(10 min hot wash/cotton agitation)
Everything I would expect to come clean first time did. One pair of MATHLETTS gymnastics socks will have to be rewashed but I would regularly have to rewash these when using powder.
After using them on two fairly difficult/dirty loads they seem to be performing the same as powder. If they wash pastals this well I expect them to find darks a breeze. The fabircs as soo much softer when dried than using detergent, especially as my machine only does one rinse and a spin spray so doesn't remove all the residue IMO. The real test for washability will be a white load later in the week. Will post back then.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
Someone gave me 3 ecoballs and one of the Lakeland Plastics balls (part used but still plenty of life left in them) - so far I have used the Lakeland one, I think it is great. DS and I get exzcema so for the two of us we need to be able to use something that doesn't aggrivate us. I am very pleased with the results. I have an LG direct drive washing machine and it has an eco wash programme on it - so maybe this is why they have worked well for me. My washer is on almost all day so hopefully this should save me a few pounds.
