Soda bread - I am a fool

Well I thought that, but they were on for a good 45 minutes! I might re cook them today for an extra 20 minutes and see what happens. I usually use the organic ones, but bought these East End brand (52p compared to 99p!) to save money (and I am sure I have used them before anyway).
I was not sure if overcooking them made them go hard?

Aww a fellow sufferer (I made some more by the way and it turned out fine - I had to prove to myself that I could!)
I would have thought that overcooked lentils would go mushy rather than hard?0 -

I wouldn't eat it, and I wouldn't feed it to the ducks, and I wouldn't worry - now at least you know from your own experience rather than hearsay!
My only suggestion for a good use is...aren't there some Old Style cleaning methods that involve rubbing marks or something with a bit of bread?!0 -
It's a good maxim isn't it? I heard it years and years ago and, as you can see, have always remembered it.
Yes, you can use bread to remove biro marks - it's said, some others too; but if it's bad enough to need a whole loaf for you're in BIG trouble

Lentil Dahl Update
They remained hardish even after extra cooking. I am still eating them all the same - they are not so bad as to be inedible. So I think its the lentils themselves. I shall chuck them out - or maybe I could use them in one of those thingys you warm up in the microwave to ease painful joints?
What do you think? Hmmm. Any suggestions for unwanted lentils??Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Certainly is, I must remember it myself next time I'm afraid to have a go at something in case it doesn't work. Last night I went in to the kitchen and made pancakes for dessert...threw flour, eggs, milk, salt and sugar in to the bowl without measuring and turned out lovely pancakes which we completely demolished...I would never have been able to do that if I hadn't started with carefully following recipes, getting them wrong, and eventually deciding I could do it better if I went with my instincts!
Larmy16 I suppose the lentils are split ones? If they were whole, they are supposed to make excellent sprouts. It probably is the fault of the lentils being too old, if they are stored too long (and you don't know how long the shop/warehouse had them) no amount of boiling will fix them, apparently. If nothing else I am sure they would compost fine.0
