    hello,

with my first house from 5 years ago we kept all the paper work, then when Powergen chased us two years later we easily resolved the problems. I kept the paperwork from that house for a little while longer, but then when i moved reccently i got rid of it, as it had been five years ago. With the second property they even told me they could see i had closed the account and paid a final bill on the last day of the month, but said that wasnt good enough as i would have to prove i didnt live there on the dates specified on the bill!!!!

I am still none the wiser as to what to do. Im going to write and e-mail e.on today, i have e-mailed watchdog www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog i hope they pick it up.

(I also suggest ignoring people who have made stupid comments. If we were not geniune about our cliams we wouldnt be on here for help, we would just be ignoring it)
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.
  • e-on are a pain in the neck. I used to be with powergen and found them unhelpful. when they changed to e-on I left them and went to scottish power - it took them six months to realise that I was with another company because they kept sending round the meter readers and I kept telling them each time that I was no longer with E-on or powergen and will they leave me alone. I find scottish power so easy to manage my bills. Its all done online, enter my meter readings and hey presto a bill created and my payments altered automatically.

Not sure where U live, but here in the 'Effluent South' .............. the Meter Readers work for a Central Company that deal with ALL the Supply Companies and NOT individual ones???

Tried Scottish Power and found their Online Billing system to be very poor .................... each time you got a Bill, the print was too small and you could not read it properly ............... if you tried to enlarge it, it just blured! .............. so gave up and am now back with Eon, much easier to use?

    Thank you for your comments...
Yes indeed, this is a real concern, and I wouldn't be here if it wasn't valid.
I can't believe how greedy this company in particular seems (well I know they all are-but that's another story). To be honest with you I am quite concerned with their principles and the way they try to coerce people into paying debts which do not exist.

Yes I found that out months later when I refused entrance to one of the meter readers. I am very wary about letting in people as I live alone.
The online billing is very easy to read for me.:rotfl:

    Hi hello kitty

An article on the matter? how interesting...Please tell in which newspaper, could try to look it up online.

Did you hear from watchdog yet?

Do you think that the Energy Ombudsman would help too?

You can imagine how time consuming this is ....the company has wasted so many hours of my precious time!

It's funny that these three threads complaining about Eon keep finding there way to the front of the board.

Your not shills from Edf or Bg by any chance because Eon prices are lower?

Or am I just being too cynical.

No, we are just people who are scared, who have been put it to bad credit, and all for what? Because we closed our accounts, paid our final bills and in some cases were not even with Powergen!

I’m glad this post keeps jumping to the front as I hope we can all help each other. This is serious. Imagine if you got a letter for a debt collection agency saying you owed money for something you never used or bought. You then ring up that company and they confirm this, but say you have to prove it all over again, several years after the event! that’s like saying Tesco ringing you up saying you bought some food shopping from them three years ago! We know you paid for it at the time, but we think you took more food after you left! (well not exactly the same) But its just mental!

and i hope it never happens to you.
