£3/kg is £3000/ton. That price for wire is non stripped i gather?
Local merchant has my scrap.0 -
Just resurrecting an old thread.
Have been offered £2 a kilo for scrap copper and £20 for a HW cylinder and this includes free collection. Is this a fair price based on the recent increase in metal prices?0 -
'Bright Copper' ie copper with no other metals in it (eg brass, solder etc) is more like £4.50 / kilo. 'Braisery', which is copper with other metals (and is what you may well have if it has come out of a central heating system is more like £3.50 / kilo. The cylinder is worth probably 3 times what you have been offered. You would be better taking it to the local scrap merchants and 'weighing it in' yourself.
If they are collecting, then you are paying for their labour and vehicle running costs.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
I took some old copper metal from the house when I renovated & got £97 for it - nice one. Was a small car boot full of coppper piping0

Yep, we used to cut the fittings off, the tube was one price and the fittings were a different (lower) price0
