I am having a 30 year old central heating system removed which will mean a lot of scrap copper piping and a scrap boiler, is this worth any scrap value??? If so how much are we talking about???
I also have about 4 meters of lead piping that will be scrap is this of any value??? Cheers

probably get a few beers out of the copper, not much for the boiler and even less for the lead.If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!

Good morning: Call your local scrap metal merchants for a price per kg/ lb. My OH includes the removal of all waste materials associated with a gas central heating installation in his quotations and adjusts his quotes accordingly if the client wishes to remove all the waste materials. Check with your CORGI as he/she might quote in a similar manner.

Said on TV last week that old immersion heaters were fetching £100 scrap now.0

DO NOT LEAVE THIS OUTSIDE......its worth money and you will find it will magically disappear if you leave it out. You may get about 30 odd quid?? depends how much it all weighs in.0

Go to yell.com and search for 'scrap metal buy' or something similar for you location and it will bring up a few sites.
Phone a few companies and you will find prices vary from one place to the next.
I agree with nalyo don't leave it outside my sister did and found it disappeared within a few hours. She at the time never knew it could be sold. When I sold mine I think I got about £100 for the old pipes and immersion heater.0 -
The price of scrap metal has not been so high for a long time, but your gas fitter may be expecting to take it away and have adjusted his price accordingly, so you better check with him first. All I seem to hear is blah blah blah!0

Around £2500-£3000/ton for clean copper, the more you take the better the price they give normally.
The lead, should fetch about £1000/ton0 -
It always makes me chuckle when a customer ask to keep the copper removed after doing a small job (changing taps, plumbing washing machine etc).
I can picture the scrappies face as they go in with a foot length of 15mm in each hand.:rotfl: :rotfl:.
To make it worth my while I take a trailer load at a time.

I spoke to my local metal recycler last week. They are offering £1/kg for copper wire, and £3/kg for pure copper. Hitch- where do you take yours?!:D
Make sure you take your waste metals to a site licenced by the Environment Agency.Won Mulberry Bag Jan 090
