I recieved my car inurance renewal last month from church hill who i have been with for 2 years. The quoted my £451. This for myself and my dad full comp with no claim protection and all the things i needed. I spent a few hours on the internet going through loads of different companies and only a few came close within a few pounds either way. I thought i would put the details in on churchhills insurance quotes, expecting a higher quote but they quoted me £363. Nearly £100 cheaper than my renewal, so i rang them up and got this policy but they wont offer me any explanation even though i explained how unhappy i was, but as this was the cheapest and no others would haggle this low, i had to stay with them, is there anything i can do. i have paid and accepted the years insurance now.

the usual reason is that because it's internet based they don't have to pay people to do the work so it will be cheaper.
I had the same problem with Admiral, a 10 month accelerator policy was £210 cheaper than my renewal.0 -
The lower premium may partly be accounted for by the internet discount. But the bulk of the reduction will be a result of the insurer offering an introductory discount to encourage new customers.
Customer loyalty doesn't seem to be a big thing. It's worth shopping around at renewal, even with your current insurer!0 -
I am in the process of insuring my Mitsubushi Pajero, I have 5 months left to run with Direct Line on my Ka which I am parting company with. To change my policy for the Ka would mean paying £75 per month ie £450. DL online quote was £410. Another independant quote was £460.
Its alright getting all these quote but I just know in 12 months I'll get loads of junk mail. Hope I ticked or unticked all the boxes.0 -

Be careful of charges not shown online. I trawled through getting quotes for my car, used the sites recommended by MSE and settled on Barclays. I was very careful to check the voluntary excesses, and the total shown by Barclays online was £150. However when I got the policy in the post and extra £400 excess had appeared, when I called to complain I was told there must have been some error as the car I have carries this additional excess.
But the web quote did not show this anywhere - so if you buy online check the policy when you get it!!0
