Vax or Bissell

Hi there,

Bit of a lurker on this board, look and do!

Need some advice though, we rent our house and have for the first time time a cream carpet in the kitchen:eek: Obviously not through choice:eek:

We get a carpet cleaning machine every 3 months or so as we (for the first time EVER!!) have inspections at these inetervals.

As I'm sure you can imagine, 1 DS and 1 DD along with 2 cats and 1 dog makes for family mud, mess and fun

So, as the vaxs' are on sale, Do we buy one or the Bissell? We are seeing the Vax, not only upright but the "6 in 1" too on offer everywhere, although as Costco members, the Bissell is normally about £100

PLEASE ADVISE

What Should We Buy???

Thanks

Diane

    I like my vax

I'd say pull the carpet up, roll it and store it somewhere, get yourself something easier to clean, let the landlord/lady know you will have it refitted when you move out.

    We've got a Vax. Personally I wouldn't recommend it.

On the inspection front, we had that in our last house, and I found it a personal intrusion. I'm sure a check when the lease is up for renewal would be fine (and if you are obviously good tenants then it shouldn't really need doing even that often) I'm sure the owners wouldn't like someone marching through their home every few weeks.

Just actually read this again. What kind of idiot would put a cream carpet in the kitchen?! I'd second what lil_me says and put something different down. The kitchen floor is probably one of the hardest to keep clean.

    Completey agree!

Why dont you ask the owners if you can replace it? If its a small kitchen it would probably be cheaper too;)

    We've got a Bissel, it's fab.

A lot less hard work to use than the Vax I think (I've used both - the Bissel is just like hoovering with an upright, it's that easy).. it goes thorugh a lot of cleaning fluid though, but I get round that by cleaning with just water first, then water and fluid (the Bissel has a little tank that gives you that option).

I have a vax and I hate it so much I never use it for vaxing and can't wait to get rid of it. I treat it very roughly, hoping it will break :rotfl:. It never does as it hates me too :rotfl:. It is a bit involved, to use as anything more then as a hoover.
I can feel my heartrate going up even typing something about it. Ugh.

After years of hiring I finally bought a Bissell and it is fab! Its easy, lightweight, just like using an upright vacuum, also does hard floors and comes with detergents. The best price I could get back in dec 07 was coop electrical online (£77.99 with free del) and it arrived within 2 days. You get to choose your delivery slot so you dont have to mess about staying in for days on end wondering when it will arrive. I notice you can get 2% if you go through Quidco. You can find it here http://www.coopelectricalshop.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?ProductCode=BIS-SVC-1970-0 but dont forget to go through Quidco if you use it :)

Here's my 2p worth ... had a vax [too much faffing around] and a bissell [much easier and more efficient/effective], my vote goes for the bissell. Cream carpet in a kitchen!!

I have one of the small Bissell Powerwash machines and its absolutely brilliant, particularly when OH trod dog poop through every room in the house! It is very quick to set up and put away and doesn't take up much space

I think now you have a few answers from the old stylers, I'll move your thread to the 'in my home' section where there are other threads on the same topic.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.
