Cheap calls from Crete

I'm going to Crete for 2 weeks and I have a 3 phone. Their tariff is £1.80 per minute!

Is there a cheaper way?

buy one of the local phone cards (OTE) for either 3 or 5 euro. It makes it very cheap to call a UK landline.

If you need to make calls from a mobile, you'll need a local SIM card, and as 3 unlocking is often more complicated, probably a separate phone.

The Greek networks all have similar charges of about 25p per minute locally and int'l calls range up to 60p/min.

Use a callback service like https://www.enlinea.com with a local SIM and you can make calls to UK landlines for US 21c per minute, about 12 pence.
