  • I am not sure how they compare but it may be worth trying Virgin Mobile, it costs £10 to sign up and you get £5 of calls. Also they now have bundled minutes/text deals which start from £7.50, which are taken off your airtime balance or charged via direct debit. Prices work out at around 19p per minute falling to 12p if you buy a bigger bundle and texts at around 10p or less.

  • Have a look at Scancom - I've used them before and they are ok. However, you have to make sure your cashback is pursued. For the Vodaphone 200 they seem to offer the best deal at the moment

    unless anyone knows different.  :D

That Scancom deal works out as £56.91 for the year - no free phone to sell to offset, but still not a bad deal (and the OP did specify sim-only)

    Are Scancom reliable though???????

I don't like the way you mention "pursued" !!

Oh - and why do they exclude the VAT??

same offer (or similar anyway) from

    http://www.phoneboxdirect.co.uk/vhandsets.asp

    Crossnet 200 & £6 Data Bundle @ £29.99
    Tariff package includes:

    200 Cross Network Minutes
Minutes can be used any time to any network
    50 SMS's or 16 MMS's
Remaining minutes roll over for 1 month
    Itemised Billing
12p per minute to landlines, other Vodafone mobiles & voicemail
35p per minute to cross network mobiles
    12p per SMS
    36p per MMS
10p per minute WAP charges through the Vodafone portal

    29.99 x 12 = £348

    £291 cashback = £57 per month

    Anybody used Phoneboxdirect?
  • Scancom are ok - I posted my bills for the cashback and when I hadn't heard 6-8 weeks later, chased them. Initially they claimed they hadn't any bills from me - then a day later they found them, but they paid out a month later.

Agreed OP specified a SIM only deal - plenty of deals can beat this by buying a phone & airtime then selling the phone.
