The difficulty for the Scout leader is that the money does have to be paid now. If various people say "I need to pay weekly" but then stop coming, they've paid the money out and don't recover it.Lickul_miss wrote: »after i picked my boys up this week i asked the scout leader if i could pay weekly to which the reply was "theres only 3 weeks left till it has to be payed!"
I do appreciate your problem however. £50 is a lot of money to find at short notice. When you've got to know them a bit better do ask if there's anything you could do to help with fundraising etc as it has been a struggle and would be good if the cost could be reduced somehow. Although I know some groups don't find that works well because it's always the same few who turn out for jumble sales etc yet everyone benefits from the funds raised.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
My sons both attend scouts and cubs and I pay £10 each per month and have never been asked for extra so perhaps this is covered in the £10 a month subs-they have gone up recently from £7. Very good value and the kids love it but I would struggle to pay £25 in one go with little notice.Perhaps they could look at increasing subs to cover the cost for next year.Murphys no more pies club member 275:j0

I am on a scout group committe as well as having a child in the group. Our group has to pay electricity bills (which as we all know have gone up a lot) , insurance bills for our scout hall (always increasing) , capitation fees (increased a lot this year) , purchasing equipment needed for events. Constantly paying for repairs as a result of mindeless vandalism. All this before we fund the normal day to day events / badges etc.
We have tried fund raising but often it is only the the same few parents who turn up to put in the time and usually their money.
I realsie that the capitation fee is a lot but it is fairer if all members pay rather than the burdon being on the few who turn up to fund raise. The £2 Coin Savers Club = £96.00 joined 25/05/06
