Paid by Paypal but want to deliver in person - advice pls

Hello all,
I've just sold an item on Ebay for £42 + £12 delivery and the buyer has paid straight away by Paypal. Looking at their address, they actually live 15 mins drive away from me and on a regular route I take so obviously it would be far easier for me to drop off the item myself and save the P&P hassle.
Assuming that the buyer would be happy with this arrangement, what would be the best way for me to proceed to ensure that the buyer doesn't make an 'item not received' claim with Paypal after I've delivered it?
Thanks,
Rob

make sure something gets signed, print up a quick delivery note to take with you.
finger print them, photograph them with said item and that days newspaper lol
i wouldnt do it personally, paypal cant really argue with royal mail recorded delivery0 -
If you routinely accept paypal then you must understand its limitations. paypal themselves suggest that it is not a method used when goods are collected.
Don't do it. read the sticky thread on here entitled 'useful hints' especially post 16. If you hand deliver you will lose any chargeback raised against you for item not received.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You may have to agree to refund a share of P&P to buyer and a hassle for buyer to agree a time for delivery. Many on line buyers do not want visitors at their home.

PS: I had the oposite when a buyer wanted to collect to save £5 P&P and he NPB when I politely told him no. Then he negged me! It takes all sorts and it seems you get the worst on fleeBay."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Offer to deliver, and if buyer agrees get them to cancel the PP payment and get cash payment ready for you.:wall:0

All gets complicated then. The buyer will expect it for 'free' or at a reduced rate, they may take the hump at you demanding cash because you dont trust them not to do a chargeback, etc.
I'd post it.0 -
if he does a item not recieved chargeback he is on your route and you can pay him a visit with the heaviesGod made man, man made money, money made man mad0

sold a video game yesterday and buyer paid within minmutes. I saw they were 10mins up the road from me so couple of hours later I knocked on their door with game in hand. They were knocked over to get the item so quick and on a sunday as well.
However in my listing I had p&p as free but in your case it could get messy, I'd just post it as others have said.0 -

In your case it could get messy too. Wheres the evidence they've received it. If that penny drops with them within 28 days they could do a chargeback.0 -

yes i know, but I checked their feedback which is good and also I know where they live. Sometimes in life you gotta trust ppl, I know it's hard with so many scams on ebay but hey what the hell, I made them happy
