Triage999 gets my vote too she has inspired loads of us to rethink about using furniture and stuff to get the Shabby Chic look on a budget as well as saving stuff from landfills. You just need to look at the viewing figures for the month. REDUCE RECYCLE REUSE and be a MSE!”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

I'd like to vote for Triage999 for the shabby chic thread,

I thought that first that this was not at all my thing, but it has become compulsive reading and covers a wide variety of topics - make do and mend, reuse, recycle, what's good on e-bay, what to look for in charity shops, how to paint furniture, and much much more. Whatever your taste in furnishings this thread is a goldmine of ideas and supportive encouragement.0 -
I would also like to make a second nomination, this time for Ginger Ribbon's thread:

I have a relative with ME who belongs to a forum called Foggy Friends. A lot of the contributers want to cut down on chemicals, have very little cash and have various other concerns which could be helped by many threads on the OS board. However, because of tiredness etc (feeling foggy!) many sufferers of ME and related illnesses are shy of posting because they are very prone to being flamed due to expressing themselves badly, forgetting the right word, sounding brusque when really they have temporarily "lost" vocabulary etc. Plus, being prone to weepiness, easily distressed etc makes flaming an even worse experience than it usually is.
This thread was one that I particularly suggested to show that OS ers are not perfect, are kindly, are tolerant and do want to keep on trying, even though failure is common.
I think that this thread, more than any other, shows what a lovely community we are and want to be - there is so much encourgement and so little negative judgement.0 -
I nominate Triage999 for starting the Shabby chic thread:A . I check it every day and love reading about and looking at, people's homes, there is quite a little community going on there now and so friendly too.0
