  • OK, I'm beginning to come round to the fact that if I want to automate the account aggregation then I would have to let these services access my account "at my own risk".

However, I presume the bank would not take issue with me downloading electronic versions of my statements and then uploading them into one of these services?

I got a similar reply from Smile. Even if my banks allowed these service to connect, I wouldn't want to let a service like Yodlee store all the answers to my security questions on thier servers.

I also find it annoying that a number of these services say - 'We don't store your security answers', and kind of dont make it clear that the 'service we use' ( they rarely outright mention Yodlee) DOES store all your answers!

I like Wesabes model of storing your credentials on the PC in an encrypted 'safe', and a firefox plug in does the log in and screen-scraping.

I quite like Wehuhu's idea of asking you to log in to your bank in a different window and then use a firefox plugin to automatically send the statement data, it is a bit clunky, you have to log in and navigate to the statement page, so then its virtually identical to how you browse a banks web site and I cant see how a bank could have any grounds to object!

Unfortunately Wehuhu is not readty for me to use properly, its obviously in development and as Paul_Herring says its a bit 'dire', only supports Smile or OFX QIF, but I'm keeping an eye on progress. In the mean time I'm battling away with Wesabe and using the really clunky 'quifinator' to upload Smile statements.

Yodlee (whom LoveMoney are using) store your details on their servers.

AccountUnity (Egg, First Direct) store them on your PC.

Ah good to know, I have the wrong browser (FF) or operating system (Ubuntu) for First Direct, I wonder if that will be the same for Egg too?

It will - they're both using AccountUnity which uses ActiveX, which requires IE.

What I use at work is VirtualBox on a Linux host running a Windows guest - works fine for everything I need Windows for.

If you're going to insist on using FF on the Windows guest, then use IETab for FF.

4.8 We will not treat you as breaking your security obligations just because you use an aggregation service we do not provide.
A typical aggregation service allows you to view information about your accounts with different banks on a single website.
  • It may be a bit late for me to join this thread, but I have used Egg MM for some time. Like other correspondents, I found the down time annoying.

The speed of access is slow and there are frequent "loading" delays and error messages. The standard excuse is for software problems preventing access. In my opinion it also routinely displays incorrect balances and is currently stuggling in adding up assets and liabilities.

I have followed suggestions above and am now loading onto the ewise site. First impressions are very good

Kublax is in financial difficulty. It was announced that it would be closing today, but they are now hoping to continue in business. They'll be making an announcement on Monday.
  • Kublax appear to have closed for good now - they sent an email this morning and their website seems to be down.

Boo! Money-budgeting website Kublax is closing down and taking all your records with it!
    Dear Kublax users and friends,

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that we were not able to find a solution that allowed Kublax to live on. Many thanks for all your supportive messages over the past week.
