  • The one I've been using for the past couple of years is provided directly by the company who provide the functionality to Egg, which gets around these three issues I have with EMM (they allow you to store the password safe on removable media.) https://www.ewise.com.au/accunity/aa/home.asp?pid=accunity

I'd second this recommendation - it's an excellent, reliable service, and if you read how it works, you can see that there's no need to worry about anyone else accessing your accounts, because your account logins never pass through their servers.

It doesn't categorise transactions though, so isn't really the same kind of service as Kublax and Yodlee. I've tried both of those, but wasn't really impressed by either, and decided that using the above plus Moneydance software suited my needs far better.
  • Unless you've got very complicated financial affairs a spreadsheet can do the job without downloading any other software.

I work out how much I've spent each week using one with 14 accounts.
If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.

If you do like it please hit the thanks button.
  • I've just spent an hour trying to set up my accounts on this site. It doesn't recognise the Hilton Honors credit card in the UK. It won't link to my other bank accounts or credit cards. The sign up was a nightmare where anytime there was an error (like having letters repeated in a password) I had to resubmit almost half the form. And then when you want to cancel you spend 20 minutes trying to find out how (it's in the terms and conditions) and there it tells you to send an email to an email address that doesn't exist! Probably one of the worst online experiences I've had the misfortune to encounter. Has put me off Mint too as I think they use Yodlee at the back-end. Do yourself a favour and avoid.

I used to use Egg MM but, as with others here, got fed up with the excessive levels of down time.

I now use First Direct Internet Banking Plus, which uses the same background software as Egg MM (Accountunity I think!). It's free for all to use and you don't have to have any FD products to use it. Unlike Egg MM, I've never known the service to be down.
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right! :D

    Try without registering

(log in above with 'dan' and 'snafu')

Somehow I don't think I'll be trying Wehuhu.

(And this looks more like a (dire) alternative to MS Money, rather than one of the aggregators mentioned on this thread.)

I had a look round Wehuhu, and its obviously not ready! I wouldn't call it dire, there's some things I like about it, future and recurring transactions, but its not usable yet, and its clear it's a v small team of developers in working on it .

I'm not sure what that's referring to, but if its the section about the demo it says

log in as 'dan' password 'demo'

I tried the Firefox uploader because I bank with Smile, that worked ok, I had to log into my bank first, so I agree its not aggregating like the others mentioned here.

probably wont be going back there just yet - but I'll keep an eye on progress

It's been changed then. I found the original rather inappropriate and unprofessional for something for public consumption.

  • I have been considering using one of these kinds of service for a very long time but have been put off so far by the fact that the banks seem to take a dim view them. I wrote to my bank and got the following reply.

"In response to your query, please allow me to advise you that HBOS advises against using any Money Management Services to access its products. This is due to the increased security of our site that will prevent the Money Management Program from accessing personal details.

In the unlikely event of fraud, we promise you won't lose out. As a HBOS online banking customer, you automatically benefit from our online fraud guarantee. However, please be aware that this guarantee does not apply if you use third party software to gain access to the service.

If you would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact our Online Helpdesk on 08456 02 00 00. Our lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I trust this information will assist you."

I have sent this info to Yodlee, Wesabe and The Telegraph (who offer a Wesabe based service) and have been met with a stoney silence from all of them.

Not true - you are able to access all the same information, including personal information, in my experience.

True - although that would assume that the bank (HBOS in this case) go to the trouble of checking how you were logging into the site. In any case, Egg Money Manager is covered by an Egg Guarantee which would cover fraud (see their terms for full details).

    .

I agree. Don't use any account aggregator for the same reason. HBOS aren't the only ones with similar policy to above
