I'm not going to be able to get to the store until Saturday due to work - I've not got high hopes to be honest!
  • shame...but fingers crossed.

On the upside DS's tend to retain their value well, even when I've seen them scratched to bits on ebay, so you shouldnt lose out too much. But I hope you get it returned...hopefully they're ina good mood when you go in :)
  • When I got one from Argos a couple of weeks ago they made a point of highlighting the "exempt from 30 day return" bit with a yellow highlighter. I presume the no-returns policy is to discourage people using software titles from Argos as a free library service or even copying them and then returning them.

If the items are still sealed then this is obviously not the case so you might get a sympathetic manager especially as there is still a bit of a waiting list for these coming in.

a lot of stores do this now, or similar (eg underlining it), to prove that the cashier has told the customer that it is exempt at the point of sale. it removes the problem of people accusing the cashier of not having told them as leverage for gaining a refund.

The cashier did make a point of the console and game being exempt from the guarantee, although it was not underlined. I'd never lie about that though.

It is all still sealed and I reckon I would lose between £10 and £20 on ebay if it came to that - not ideal, but better tha nothing.

The accessories kit that I bought with it is not exempt from the 30 day returns though, and the deal was that if you bought it, you got Cooking Mama free, so hopefully I will be able to return that and get my £20 for it.

It is very tempting to just open it and keep it though...
  • heh....well if you do keep it, then look at getting the likes of a supercard, r4ds or similar backup device...they'll save you a lot of money long term :)

I returned a usb stick to argos this was also exempt, they gave me gift vouchers. I used some for pressies and some I used to buy something else which I then returned to a different shop and they gave me cash for it. some stores will only refund gift voucher purchases with more gift vouchers but some will give you cash, it all depends how busy or bothered thay are.
