Unwanted DS Lite - exempt from 30 day return.

I bought the Brain Training Starter Pack today, with the Essential kit and Cooking Mama for £140 for my girlfriend, but when I gave it to her she didn't want it.

I would like to return it (all items are unopened and have only been out of the bag for a couple of minutes) and I obviously have the receipt.

If I went in and explained the situation tomorrow (or even told a little white lie, such as 'someone else bought her one for Mother's Day too'), do you think that they would give me the refund? Or do you reckon it's an ebay job?

I would give it a try you have nothing to loose. If you get knocked back I would try another store and hope you get someone with a sympathetic ear.

I'm afraid it's less than likely Argos will give you a refund, and if you "tell lies" you risk being blacklisted with your local Argos stores if they suspect you're lying - eBaying is your best option.

Based on my personal experience at Argos, the manager may be more lenient with the sealed games/software (but no guarantees) but with nearly all other exempt products it is less than likely that you will get a refund/exchange.

I'll give them a ring in the morning and if they say no then I'll have to ebay it. Thanks for your replies everyone!
  • don't call in....if you call in you'll always get the set answer of if its exempt then can't return etc....cos a) they have to follow procedure more when on phone, and b) they want less ppl to come into store for returns ideally.

just turn up....you have about a 50/50 chance if go in..especially if it is sealed....and if they're reluctant to give an actual refund, would probably give a credit note without much aggro as they're not losing money then.

if you call up your chance will diminish to about 5% probably...be v surprised if they just go "oh yeah bring it in we dont mind"
