Royal Mail problem ???

The OP does have a point though, the majority of 1st class would arrive before Tuesday, and if I was her elderley Mum looking forward to something like this, I would be slightly upset. As OP says she is quite poorly and might of wanted something to cheer her up.
Glad its got there though!0 -
Upset over a card.....whatever next.
Obviously not a true money saver.....these days are purely designed to make companies money.
If my Mum was in a home I'd be visiting, rather than posting something. Regardless of the distance I'd have to travel.
What exactly is the money saving aspect here for the users of the site? Or is it yet another pointless rant that benefits nobody?
Actually Mother's Day has been around a lot longer than the concept of moneysaving or the companies who sell cards etc, so I think you are wide of the mark there.

people need to realise that rm's management are purely worried about cost cutting.
anything they can cut then they will.
staffing levels
post office closures(london w14 now has no post offices!)
hours callers offices are open for collection
local delivery offices are being phased out and larger(cheaper) units sourced to merge offices.
my own office is moving from the centre of the 2 postcodes we cover to the far outskirts of one side.
when your mails late/delayed then most likely it can be traced back to cost/staff cutting0 -
knightstyle - thanks for that info. Worth knowing though most things I post get there the next day so its normally pretty good.
daveboy - had I been able to visit my mother I would but I have my own health issues which made this not possible.originally posted by daveboy

I was also under the impression this board was a place where queries such as this could be raised. My apologies if I'm wrong.
As for the moneysaving aspect - well I made my Mums card myself as I always have making it not only much cheaper but a lot more personal. There was also the question of postal costs.........first class being more expensive than second, track and trace adding to the cost (which I had failed to have) ...........postal issues often have a cost related basis to them as well as speed of delivery.
custardy - I do appreciate the problems experienced by royal mail workers and the system is far from perfect but has served me well and I seldom have cause for complaint. Had it not been Mothers Day and been my normal weekly letter to my Mum I would have had no concerns.
xdaisyx - apologies - our post office, although closed on Sundays, still operates collections from postal boxes so I assumed (wrongly) that these collections went to the sorting offices whatever day of the week it was.
radoJo - interesting article and as I said above.........I make my own cards instead of buying them..........keeps costs down and make it more personal
hollydays and parkemitch Thankyou..........
