Royal Mail problem ???

I posted a Mothers day card plus small framed photo last Wednesday (27th Feb) , 1st class post, receipt giving proof of postage -unfortunately no track and trace number.
I had a phone call from Mums at the care home she's in this afternoon..........the card and photo hadn't arrived -she is in a very poorly state and this really distressed both her and myself.
OH later phoned MIL and she said there was some problem in the Milton Keynes area with post being delayed................does anyone know anything about this ?
I've e mailed the Post Office via their website but can't phone until tomorrow and its really making me mad as well as upset

I know that we have really bad staff shortages here in oxfordshire,(my hubs a postie) I dont know if thats the case for you, unfortunately all proof of posting does is that, says you posted something, the only way to get the track or trace number is to pay extra.
I would try to speak to a manager at your local depot, you should be able to get the number from directory enquiries, in my own experience of royal mail its better to speak to someone local and take the name than head office. you never know they may offer something in comp or an apologie ?Murphys no more pies club... member #211
council tax rebanded ! woohoo band d to c !!! :money::rotfl:0 -
if you got a proof of postage and the item gets lost they will compensate you if it doesnt turn up 2 weeks after you post it with something like 18 first class stamps.
if you sending anything of value etc recommned sending by special delivery - costs £3 or so but then u get the extra cover and next day0 -
I rang the number on my postal receipt this morning and it seems an item isn't officially classed as 'lost' until 15 days have passed so I think I'll just have to wait and see.
They said there was no problem that they'd heard of with the Milton Keynes area. MIL told me that and think she must have got a bit mixed up.
So, its a wait and see game now really.
There was no real value in what I sent apart from it being a Mothers Day card I'd made and a small photo .......so it's the sentiment more than anything else, plus inefficiency if it doesn''t turn up.
Don't normally have problems with the postal service and stuff usually arrives on time.Mary

Problems in the Doncaster sorting depot mean our post in Lincolnshire is delayed.
A small package posted first class last Wednesday for Mothers day arrived today, Tuesday. This is now classed as normal first class delivery!0 -
Upset over a card.....whatever next.
Obviously not a true money saver.....these days are purely designed to make companies money.
If my Mum was in a home I'd be visiting, rather than posting something. Regardless of the distance I'd have to travel.
What exactly is the money saving aspect here for the users of the site? Or is it yet another pointless rant that benefits nobody?0 -
