hi chuckles1066, thx for the reply, i will have to ask my friend if she was given a HORT1 form or any documentation, i will be seeing her tommorow, but if the police didn't give any documentation, then how will she be able to tell them "where to go" coz i know my friend - she is very scared and shy, she doesn't like any sort of confrontation.0

The "offence" was in October.
It's now March.............she just needs to tell them to sod off (literally).

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
i understand what u r saying, but the court may still say that she should produce her documentation as it could still be an offence, regardless of time. What is the time scale that the police can follow up after an incident?0

Respectfully, it seems your friend has a knack of ignoring things and them coming back to bite later, bankruptcy and driving without insurance. Can appreciate she will feel crap at the moment but hopefully some good will come of it all.
It may be that she has been reported by someone as driving without insurance, so the offence to be charged for could be after october, unless the letter makes specific reference to that event. The exact wording of the letter may be enlightening if you're able to get it.0 -
Yes i would agree with the above post...and she can definately still be charged for driving without insurance and get a criminal record.
She needs to go to a police station herself asap and explain things to them. Also, a letter from the doctor indicating stress has no relevance to this or a power of attourney. All it states is that she would be unfit to work due to stress. She would need to speak to a solicitor about Power of Atourney but i suspect she would need to be mentally incapable of making her own decisions which she is not.
Hope that helps.0 -
Is this the same friend that's being done for driving without care and attention following an accident in January? Was she uninsured then as well? If they've linked the 2 events they'll be throwing the book at her.
Does not sound like she should be on the road to me.
It's unlikely she was insured 3rd party on the owner's insurance - you get that cover (if you meet the criteria) when you insure a car in your own name to allow you to drive other cars. If your friend didn't have her own insurance, she couldn't have 3rd party cover.0 -
Does she have a valid driving licence?0
