Hey everyone - all the cards are looking fantastic! Good luck with getting the job rainmac. Love the style of your Christmas card saveapenny, and I wonder if the thing that is niggling you is that the paper on front bit and the bit behind don't line up words-wise? I'm not sure how much that matters, but silly things like that niggle at me.

Well I had a real find today everyone. I popped into Woolies, and I happend to notice that they had 5 or 6 shelves up the back devoted to whoopsies and sale items. And there was loads of Christmas gift tags, all reduced to 75p per pack of 25 - so I snapped up a handful of those, which I'm part way through dissecting to use as toppers for my Christmas cards! (If anyone does happen to live near Wood Green, I reccomend you pop to the Woolies in the shopping city and grab some!)

Sorry to barge in on all you lovely card crafty people ... but I have questions ...

I want to make cards with the children for christmas (well my son as daughter is tooyoung) I know what I want to do and I know I can buy the toppers on ebay ... however the seller is diecut something or other and can get everything I need from her but I wondered if I could make my own and what I would need? I hear people talking about sizzix machines and things like this. I have 17 cards to make from the children to my family. But If I was to make my own aswell then there is another 19 on top of that and when I work out the prices I would be spending on toppers it would be cheaper for me to buy cards in the shops!

Can someone point me in the right direction please.

This is the kind of thing I have seen which I want ...

It could be the backing paper not lining up I tried but it wouldnt no matter where I placed it
I will try it again maybe with a plain paper overlay and see if that looks better

Mary43 I got the idea from create and craft. I was watching one of the demos for a kit they was sellign and thought mmm why buy the kit...lol
This one http://www.createandcraft.com/Default.aspx?showID=1968568 shows on again at 10pm tonight or look out for the Merry miseltoe pick of the week show tomorrow

so all I did was punch hole with an eyelet setter at even spaces once the card had been cut and the paper had been laid on

Hi i think its going to be alot cheaper for you just to buy the die cuts from ebay die cutting machines can be expensive they are fantastic bits of kit but for what your needing it wouldnt be worth the outlay ifyswim? you can buy cheaper machines but they dont have a good selection of dies but if you want me to list some die cutting machines and prices etc i will do

I don't think the writing not flowing is not that important because it is supposed to look concertina'd (I think?) For me it is the teddy at the botton, He looks like he needs to be straight... But that could be my minor ocd tendancies...

Do love the design though saveapenny... I think I might have to splash out on an eyelet setter.... Just bought my first packet of brads yesterday... Will have to do something with them tomorrow!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Hi not sure if your completely new to card making or already have some bits and bobs but here goes.
Copy the picture and print it onto good card then get a pricking tool ( or needle) and follow the lines to give it the same look

You can print your own inserts using word you can even print your own backing papers and greetings for the front of the card and mount then onto card. A few pages back I posted a long list of sites to get free paper

Then all you need is cards and envolpes ..if you have a Works by you they were selling 100 cards for £8 which are decent quality then you just need glue and double sided tape/foam tape and foam pads all for a £1 all you can get from £land or works really cheaply

You will also need a ruler(metal ones best),craft knife, cutting mat and scissors but once you have these they last forever (well almost)
