Ideas for card craft beginner

Anyone any ideas for a sort of sympathy card for a lad in his early 20's who's grandad has just died ? He was very close to his grandad but I don't want to send something too gushing or flowery............more like a 'thinking of you' type really.Mary

You could make a wee 'pouch' or bag and sit it in there on top of the card, makes it quite heavy though. or tie ribbon around the neck and punch two holes in the middle top of the card and thread the ribbon through so the nailvarnish dangles IYSWIM? You would have to play about with it. Great idea, really cute if it works..Or if you have a spare bit of denim, cut a patch, make a wee pocket on the card.
ok here is the male card of the day... If you can't think of find an image, just the Happy Birthday as the topper. As I thought the letters looked a bit flat I stuck tiny gems on them, cocktail stick is great for applying glue (tip of the day) blue birthday cake is from some confetti I had in my craft box, have had it for years never seems to come to an end. lol0 -
Thanks polly - but think I've sorted it. I found an image I'd got of a cost kitchen with the door open into the garden............OH said it would convey that our door is always open.......thought that would be nice for him as he was one of our foster lads many years back and he'd remember the kitchen where we used to sit round the table and solve all the problems (well almost)
The picture had a sticker on it saying 'Thinking of you' so it seemed perfect for him.
I'll bear you're idea in mind though. This situation is bound to crop up again.Mary

Thinking of making my ow cards ,do any of you use a laminator0

Hi pennyshahin, I use a laminator but I haven't used one in cardmaking yet. I bought myself one in January and asked in a thread here what type of things do other people do with one:
