    It's actually quite useful - because it works!

    It takes you to the post concerned, so in busy threads when someone might be quoting from a page or more back (and especially if they've cut out everything except the bit they want to answer to) - this means that you can pop back and see the post in its original context (and in full if edited).

    So... erm...

    If you quote a post from another thread it very cleverly also takes you to that thread :)
