Ypu just need to look at the build quality and the simplicity of the Dualit's to see that they are a quality product.
A bit like shoes you should buy the best that you can afford and they should last for years.0 -
There is a news report in the Telegraph today that arch-spammers Which? magazine have a toaster survey in their current edition.
"According to a new report from the consumer group Which?, Britain's finest engineers are still struggling to devise a toaster that makes the perfect slice of toast. While many of the toasters tested by the group's magazine could defrost bagels, reheat muffins and warm buns, few could produce a piece of evenly brown, crisp toast....."
(They recommend the £25 Prestige Symmetry, but they cant have tested for longevity.)
IMO a cheap toaster that doesnt actually do the job is a pointless and frustrating waste of money.Wins - 2004: Nothing, 2005: Zip, 2006: Nil, 2007: Zero, 2008: Naught, 2009: You get the picture0 -
I have found the Dualit Vario 2 slice toaster at in coloured versions for just £84.99 plus £7.99 P&P with the sandwich cage at £9.99 and therefore if ordered at the same time as the toaster will be post and packaging free! If you wanted the polished stainless steel version then that is £99.99 - still cheaper than elsewhere!
Other Dualit toasters also at a good price there if anyone else is interested now after the Which? report!

What is the difference in the toasters? I have seen a Dualit Lite priced around £40, then there were some at £90.0
-
I have just bought the lite. When you see them you will see the difference. The expensive ones have many more elements, have a clockwork timer and do not eject the toast. The lite will eject the toast and is more similar to a conventional toaster.
The more expensive one (not sure about the lite) can be repaired (new elements) and is reckoned to be very durable. They are made in England and generally speaking are meant to be the benchmark for toasters.0 -
Update on cheapest toaster:
are doing a two slice varios (the traditional one with the replaceable elements) at just £79.99 for the coloured version with FREE P&P. Not doing all the colours so if you really want the petal pink then this is not the site for you! Also doing the Lite version at £39.50.
The hunt continues - please challenge me! :j0 -
if the toast dosent eject how do you get it out of the toaster?0

I bought my Dualit from Ryness - a one-off for £80, no postage. So it's worth looking on the high street as well
It's also worth keeping an eye on Ebay - they do come up 2nd hand and new sometimes! (Especially cheaper for the larger Dualit models, IMHO)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0
