Boots appear to have sold out. Does anybody know of a good offer on these toasters please?0

This thread is lucky.
My toaster has passed on this morning after the usual 2 year service. I seem to buy them every two years. So does any one have any best buys for price and durability?
Needs to be a 2 slice toaster not bigger (lack of space). Need one for tomorrow!! Any ideas??0 -

This is very true. I've had mine apart many times to give it a good clean or repair an element. OK it may work out cheaper to buy a £6 toaster every 5 years but I'd personally rather not contribute to the negative environmental impact that this throw-away society generates. If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor...0 -
I'm with the Dualit fans here. They last for ever, and when the elements break, replacements are just a couple of quid. I would bet that your 5 pound toaster a) Will not fit a proper slice of bread in it, b) Will not actually cook the bread, until c) Burning it to a crisp just 2 nano-seconds after you put it back in for another go.
For a stress-free toast experience (which is priceless to me in the morning) it has to be the Dualit.Wins - 2004: Nothing, 2005: Zip, 2006: Nil, 2007: Zero, 2008: Naught, 2009: You get the picture0 -
Have just been to Comet (against my better judgement) and bought the cheap one...25040 – 2NG1GB. This was on EBay this morning at £39.99 + £7.50 P+P. Checked elsewhere and although discontinued was generally around £50 +p+p.
Comet however had one end of line no box etc for £34.50 so I am well chuffed.
Think the guys thought I was mad....counting number of heating elements in toasters and checking the wattage of them all. I decided anything under 1000W was not worth having .....would take from supper time breakfast time to cook a couple of slices. Also the really cheap ones have only about 10 or less element wires per board whilst the better ones have 15 plus. The very expensive dualit (£100 models) have loads of element wires which will be what makes all the difference in cooking the toast and price.0 -
Oh the really funny thing was Comet do a toaster for £5.99. Great value you might think but the 3 year warranty was £11.99....lol....:D0

I'm after a Dualit toaster too - so if anyone does know of any cheap ones out there of the original (vario) variety then please let me know! I know that Comet are doing them for under £100 but I am certain there must be a better deal out there - even on E bay they are still expensive!
I herby launch the great Dualit Toaster Hunt!0 -

Some people may not have £100 + to fork-out on such an expensive buy. I think the word 'priorities' comes to mind.
Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.0 -
OK I think the point that everyone is trying to get across here is this: if you can afford to purchase a Dualit toaster in the long term it is likely to save you money as it will last for much longer.
I think that us Money Savers are always aware of our spending and are able to decide for ourselves how to spend it without someone making comments on "how it is OK for some". I have actually been saving for a Dualit toaster as I too am fed up of them breaking down after just a couple of years, so for me yes it is a big thing but still not an item I would go out and buy without thinking, and for me it is a longer term money saver and therefore to me is a priority. I think you would see from some of my other postings that I am not a person who has money to throw around!!!
So please no more digs at other people!0 -

It came from a hospital - who knows how many slices of toast it's made over the years?! They're expensive because they're built to last, unlike most things we buy these days.
Sorry to go on but I also think that this post shows that you don't have to go out and buy new and that second hand Dualits will still work well and carry on toasting0
