Samsung 42" Plasma £595 delivered with 5 years guarantee

Hi all, (before anyone notices I also posted this on hukd)

I've been desperately trying to buy the Samsung PS42Q97HDX at a good price and several times contacted John Lewis to price match companies but they kept refusing. Until last night ... they emailed me and at John Lewis in Bluewater the price for the tv is now £595. You can call them and order for free delivery or go in store and it is displayed at £595.

Cheapest elsewhere with 5 years guarantee is teleland at £649.99

More info available on their site where its priced at £799. On the phone to JL Bluewater they told me they've got over 500 in stock at their warehouse. Their number is 01322 624123

    A note to add,

Screen resolution is @ 1024 x 768 ONLY. This one is not suitable for someone who wants to view blue ray, play xbox 360 and ps3. For about £120-140 more it is better to buy the samsung lcd 40" with 1920x1080p screen resolution. Just my 2p worth.

    Hi all,

If it really is available at £595 (I live in the North west of England) then although it is not 1080p, it is still a very good tv for the money.

I am in the market for a new 42" tv and would certainly have a look at this model for that price.

    Cheers

    Leo

  • having also posted it on hukd, many users there have reported buying it from other branches (reading, bristol etc) and them calling JL Bluewater to confirm price before agreeing. The deal does not extend to Scotland though as they have a new price policy in force.

Agreed not 1080p but the reviews seem to rate this telly as v good but poor sound so worth considering getting a separate speakers system.

Don't need to use the internal speakers so not bothered about their quality. I ll have a look on the avforum website to see what they say about this telly.
