I think you are being a little silly counting yourself as "lucky", as if it's some hand of fate. In my opinion you are in a good position because you've made some smart decisions and have made choices. Some people have to scrimp get a second job / some type of sacrifice and you've just made different sacrifices and your equivalent second job / scrimping is living at home and contributing to your family household cooking/paying for things like fences etc. Lots of 22 year olds are off buying stuff and not taking on responsibilities so I certainly think you're earning your luck.0 -
Hello pap
Only just seen your new thread, i'm in a similar position to you so shall be following your diary :T.

Hey chimp choker - that sig is coming down fantastically!
Thanks. The problem is that it seems like it's never ending. Not a week goes by without having no food for at least a day, not having petrol so having to be housebound and not having even two shilling to buy a birthday card for my wife... ok so it did cost more than 2 bob and I did get it but it's going to cause pain at the end of the week.....
The debts are mine and built up with a fair bit of frivolity and unwise, unplanned, spur of the moment spending but also some of it was business debts and buying essentials like food etc. My fear is for the youngsters of today and something should be done to encourage the young people to look after their money more. If it takes someone like me to put that into stark contrast for them then I'd be happy to do it before they get trapped like us.
Thanks anyway, DFD will still be in the new millennium I reckon.....0 -

If I'd been on here about 10 years ago when I had credit cards with over £200,000 limits, driving fast cars and going to football matches ... IN A HELICOPTER then I probably wouldn't be in the mess i'm in today. If the majority of young people behave like you and my son then the banks will be worried but I don't think they will worry as all young uns are not as sensible as you and my son.... he's seen the mess i'm in so that is a salutary lesson for him.0 -

crawly I guess its a problem when it comes to listing things. I have however weighed everything for this lot just gone on so I shouldnt have a problem (fingers crossed).
gem It does add up quite quickly, I mean apart for £100 my sig includes all the times I have 'scrapped' my accounts and poped in £1 etc etc... it all adds up. Well thats my grand scheme, I dont think renting is good as effectively you are paying someone else mortgage... obviously its perfect for some but I think having a home is something I am striving for.
Sarah, yep back to work saturday but my boss txted me early so I got to go home early. Someone wasnt happy about that but I spoke to her today. Glad you sussed turbo lister ~ great little program eh.
Chimpy Thanks, I dont really send that many to be honest. I tend to dip into and out of ebay quite a lot. I do tend to send a lot though for my busniess but thats only £1.10 per time and thats budgeted on my website.

barnaby Thanks for working out the calculations, I only underestimated because I know every year I will be going on holiday £300 all in. My interest i am sure is 6% but it will be put into my 7% saving first so I will be making more on itAs for mr pap, I will never say never but its not something in 'my' life plan.
boredofbeingathome it depends what she is after and how much she wants to spend. I get most of my stuff online purely because they offer a better price than places like hobby craft. Pm me and I can sort something for your daughter
babes21I did bump your thread a week or so ago to see how you are getting on... hope you are ok.
barnaby Thanks. I know I have given up a lot to be in the position and have the soa I do. Sometimes though I do think I am lucky and then I do feel guilty but I am getting used to it and I still try and help on here. I guess its something I have to get used to but I am proud that I have come out the otherside and havent got back into debt. I am getting used to it slowly :rotfl:
chimp :rotfl: @ banks. But I was the same my parents were terible with cash and even though I did get into debt it was relitively small. I do back putting finace lessons into schools I feel the banks wouldnt get away with half of the things they did. The problem is young people grow up with a want it have it now attitude and thats totally wrong. I am so glad I grew out that phrase within a month :rotfl:
fac Thanks hun... I love budgetting :rotfl: how I do it amazes me though  :rotfl: how are you hun? the little one?
ohhh thats a long one :rotfl:0 -
