Glad mum and kitties are doing well - and ty for looking after her looby x
Would it be OK to start her on dried food at this time? Thank youDoing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......

All the kittens are doing well. They are putting on about 15 - 20g every day. All have opened their eyes and mum is doing a great job. I've found homes for all of them.
They all look as though they will have long fur and squashed noses, bit like a persian perhaps, but it' a bit soon to tell.
Photographing mainly black kittens is hopeless! Every photo is a black splodgeDoing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......

Hi
Im just looking for a bit of advice maybe some rehoming centres.I have a stray cat living in mine and my next door neighbours garden we have been feeding her for over 2 months between us we contacted rspca at the time who said she would probably find her way home and they hadnt got room, well she never went home im trying to keep her protected from the rain etc but it is hard work as i already have a cat and she feels threatened by this stray so they just fight so i have tried my best to make her some shelter in the garden. My main concern about this cat is that she is due to have kittens in about a week and the rspca dont have a space till march 28th and then they say if she has the kittens before this they cant move her or the kittens for 3 weeks. The cat is in fantastic condition but over the last week has been very depressed i think she is trying to find somewhere to safe to have kittens and its distressing her.
I know she is going to end up having these kittens out in the back garden and this is what really concerns me as i feel the weather being like it is could kill her and her kittens.
Im have tried a few rehoming centres with no luck so far i live in the leicester area.
I really do not want to see anything bad happen to her as she really is a lovely cat its quite distressing to watch her.
Many thanks for any help.0 -
Hi There. Have you Cats Protection League up there? They really are the best. They won't put a healthy cat down and mummy will be spayed so that she cannot have more kittens. The RSPCA are not so good as they will put healthy animals to sleep, Good Luck
Hi Merioneth I have taken the cat in, she has had her kittens and all are doing well (see previous posts) There is CPL here but they didn't have room either. I will be keeping the mum, she is lovely and she has gone through enough and i've found homes for the kittens.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......

Hi, well done for taking her in. Did the vet give you any idea when to expect them to be born? Is she a moggy? If so she will probably do it all herself unless you are very unlucky. Expect her to eat and eat and eat! She will be hungry ALL the time.
I prepared three large cardboad boxes and placed them around the room I wanted her to be in. I put an old pillow case/ bit of sheet in each. She then chose where to be.
A few days before the birth the hair around the nipples goes. I suppose the area of a 10p piece, so the kittens can find them?? Also the boobs fill up a bit - that was the main way I could tell she was ready.
On the day she will be restless and may not eat (although mine did!) but leave her. She will go in one of the boxes and hopefully do it all herself. Depending on how much she trusts you, try not to interfere, just let her get on. She will eat all the afterbirth etc and clean everything up. My first cat was so clean I didn't even have to wash the sheet. Amazing! Don't touch them till next day or 2 days. (Have a peep when she is feeding)
This is a cat chat site with a forum although I've not posted on there yet:- http://www.catchat.org/ and the whiskers site has a great little time line from birth to one year.
Good luck and keep us postedDoing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......

aaahh thanks looby
thats great, the receptionist said as she has started to show slighlty she is probably around 4/5 weeks but she was s o skinny when the mother in law started feeding her she was putting on weight straight away anyway, so im hoping she is not too far gone anyway it looks like it will be middle of may (the vet wanted £45 to scan and be more accurate on date , and i just thought either way she is gonna have them what does a few days either way make a difference.
i have put two large boxes in the room that she mostly stays in and her large be so fingers crossed she will go in there but last night she actually came and slept on my bed next to me:A , she is still nervous when your walking around and the kids are playing etc but of an eveing she is more trusting and livley she played with some of the toys last night.
im hoping shewill be ok by herself cause i work term time so next week im back to work although i finish at half two so pick the kids up and home, not sure wether i should shut the door on her and keep her in the back room she likes if she does have the kittens when im not homeso jessie may doesnt upset her nearer the time she is due what do you think.
anyway going to have a look at the link you did, thankks again hun and how are your bundles of fluff going. x have you homes for them yet. xnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0
