I was raised JW and no, technically they don't celebrate Mother's Day because "you're supposed to love your mother every day". Normally I'd say buy a card anyway but if that would make things more tense, then probably best not to.
Sorry.

thanks for your help, its so difficult to decide what to do. They usually pop over on a sunday for a coffee, before she was a JW we would see her everyday and chat on the phone as well. but not any more. its really sad.
Ill buy a card if she come ill just give it to her as she walks out the door to go home. Hopefully she will just chose not to visit.0 -
If you want to buy mum a card or flowers to show her your appreciation then do it.If it would upset her to recieve anything on Mothers Day then do it before or after. You do get cards with Thanks etc or just a blank inside.Or just give her a big hug and tell her you love her without saying Happy Mothers day."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0

Wow,just read the list on the link above.Doesnt exactly sound like much fun does it?Quite a lot of anti-christian do nots there too which I really didnt expect to see from a christian based religion.I would query the source of that information and do some further web searches if I were you.Dont believe everything you read on the internet basically."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0

Smurfs look like one of those things that was very short lived and probably unofficially tabood:

My closest friend when I was younger was a JW and at least once a month there would be something else that was banned as being demonic, and then a few months later it was suddenly OK again and all previous references to the ban denied.
Incidentally she did send a Mothers day card (and they were very strict) but then the JW movement changes its policy day by day so that is no guarantee that it is acceptable now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
