How can I get a better signal?

I've had my phone now for about a yr and at first the signal was strong all over the house. Now I can only get a good signal upstairs. It's getting to the stage where I'm now looking at getting another tariff on a different network.Which to me seems a bit drastic. So does anyone know how I can improve my signal strength? The reason I ask is it takes ages for me to recieive text messages and sometimes I'm not getting the whole text through in one go. I can't ring anyone at all from downstairs as it just isnt strong enough. So just wondered if any one had any tips.

Thank you.

If it used to be fine, contact your network as the mast in the area has a problem.

They should get an engineer out to have a look at it.

Signals are usually strongest near a window

Do a manual roam and select your network from the list see if that helps before you call your network.

Does anyone know if these stick on Signal Boosters actually work (and if so, whether they have any other implications with regard to radiation)?

Thank you all for your help. I did everything you suggested then swapped phones and on my old phone the signal is fine. So looks like I have to get a new phone. Before anyone asks why I dont use my old one I will for now but I find it hard to read as it isn't a colour screen.

If your having signal problems and looking for a new phone, samsung are not the best with a weak signal but nokias seem to be one of the better ones and sony ericssons too, i had a samsung t100 on 02 with practically no reception in my house and replaced it with a nokia and reception was far better tested both phones in house within 5 mins. Or maybe try a differant network, i soon swapped from 02 to vodafone for that reason.
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

The general feeling is that the stick on 'it's like attaching a four foot antenna to your phone' signal "boosters" don't work at all. Doing a search on google will reveal a lot of people reporting no effect at all.

Agreed, I bought some of these a few years ago and didn't notice any difference. If they really were like sticking a 4 foot aerial on your phone maybe the phone manufacturers might incorporate them in to the design!
