International Text Messages

Hello all
I am looking for the cheapest way to send text messages internationally. I am not too bothered about how much calls cost because I usually use a landline to make calls, but sometimes its easier just to 'check up' on friends with a few quick text messages (esp with time zone differences) - unfortunatley at around 25p a text the cost is mounting up.
Anyone got any idea of who is the best? Most of the 'bundles' which have x amount of text messages aren't international messages, just UK to UK phones.
Thanks in advance!

Little_Star,
if you have internet access, there are a few sites that will allow you free sms. Effectively they would be from UK to UK so would be free.
(Sorry, misread your post- thought you would be abroad texting back to the UK)...and then the window licker said to me...0 -
Hi...
Thanks
but how would they effectively be UK to UK? I would have to put in the international dialing code would I not?
And I'm not always at the pc when sending text messages thats why I was looking for a cheaper alternative
The cheapest I have come across so far is Orange...but was interested if anyone knew a cheaper one...

mobileworld from car phone warehouse:
intl texts at 15p each
local texts at 7p "
cost of sim card: £10 (piggybacks on t-mobile)
if purchased with a debit card/credit card top up with £5 and get £5 free
if no such card used to buy it, then they insist on a £10 top up at purchase!
also, the small print, if credit not used within 60 days it expires and you lose your number! but min top up (excl above) is £5 so feasible.
you also get cheap intl calls! intl calls are routed via a diff provider to t-mobile.0 -
ps orange charge 25p?? what do the others charge?0

I know that on my Voadfone contract phone they cost 20.4 pence to Australia. I've got a similar problem in that I have someone I want to keep in contact regularly with - and I can by email and MSN Messenger, but with the time difference I'm not always at home and the mobile is the only way.0

o2 international call service (can't remember exact Name) costs about £5 one off payment, but it will give you 10p text messages abroad on PAYG0

Is this before VAT? The cost of international texts on Vodafone are usually about 24p each.daveboy wrote:I know that on my Voadfone contract phone they cost 20.4 pence to Australia."...And I gave that man directions, even though I didn't know the way, 'cause that's the kind of guy I am this week." -- Homer Simpson0 -

Would it be possible to use it on an old vodafone pay as you go phone?

Yes that's right - it's better value than CWH ''mobile world''.
This is the O2 ''international bolt on'' I referred to in another post.
Free until January 10th - £4;99 after that.
Call 2425 from an O2 payg phone.0
