Hi everyone
Im brand new to investing, and having just inherited £40,000 would like to invest it for purposes of income and growth, and am more than prepared to leave the money alone for at least 5 years. I would really like to hear anyones opinions on the product provider's ready made solution listed below:
UK EQUITY
Artemis Capital 3%
Invesco Perpetual Income 13%
J P Morgan Premier Equity Growth 10%
Jupiter UK Growth 3%
Merrill Lynch UK 4%
EUROPEAN EQUITY
Gartmore European Selected Opportunities 4%
New Star European Growth 3%
US EQUITY
Fidelity American 3%
Investec American 5%
Schroder US Small and Mid-Cap 3%
UK FIXED INCOME
UK Corporate Bond 4%
UK Government Bond 22%
OTHER FIXED INCOME
Global Bond 5%
UK PROPERTY
New Star UK Property 5%
Norwich Property 4%
ASIAN EQUITY
Fidelity South East Asia 3%
Schroder Tokyo 3%
OTHER EQUITY
Investec Global Free Enterprise 3%
This all equates to …..
Fixed Income 34%
Equity 57%
Property 9%
Here are the charges ….
Annual Management Fee 0.85% p.a.
Fund Expense 1.54% p.a.
Investment Safeguard 0.50% p.a.
Payment to IFA 0.50% p.a.
Cheers:beer:

hi metroman,
With £40k, if I was paying for advice, I would want a personalised solution rather than a ready made one, especially as some of it looks a bit "Ashes to Ashes" (property, USA, Japan).
Look at this great thread to get some fund ideas:

Who is the product provider & what does the investment safeguard do for you?
Check your funds against Hargreaves lansdown W150 the advisor fund index on trustnet and the chelsea financial services list of preferred funds in Viewpoint under their research section.
I'm not that familiar with some of the funds but most are common recommendations and have good records. Although I haven't noticed J P Morgan Premier Equity Growth on any preferred lists unless I've missed it. I would prefer to have Artemis Income rather than this growth fund, but that's because I like UK Equity Income, and could go for H_L Income and growth fund which reads like a who's who of the UK Equity Income sector.
Personally I'm not a fan of America and would much rather get access via a global fund. Apparently, as well, the US market is so well researched that fund managers rarely beat the index so you might just as well get an index linked fund if you wanted to get the US direct & save on fund charges.
Your bond funds are not identified though.
Presumably the fund matches your risk profile?0
