Hi
I was wondering if there is anyway to find out how long a house has been on the market, other than asking the EA/vendor?
It isn't on property snake as hasn't been reduced.
We are planning to put an offer in on Monday, but we would like this info to help judge where we go in at.
Also is it acceptable to have someone else ring up the EA and put the offer in for you? It's just that I know I will either give something away or sound too emotional/in love with the house.
Cheers for the advice.

You can't. There isn't a national register etc. You can try checking back issues of the local newspaper though?
I can see no problem with someone else making the offer on your behalf. I have heard of brokers talking to EAs on people's behalf before. The EA will eventually want to speak to you though I reckon.0 -
Ok thanks for that.
It is probably not too important, as the seller is not in a rush to sell unfortunatly, so we may not be in a position to negotiate much off whether or not it has been on the market long.
I might try the paper idea.0 -
if you could find the house on propertysnake that might be able to tell you as it lists when a property was first listed by an agent.0

the only way I found so far is to find this property on Upmystreet, it is a bit outdated (meaning you can see properties removed elsewhere) and shows the date when the property first appeared ...0

Does the property have a HIP? If not, you will be able to find out that it has been on for at least X amount of time.
Properties with four or more bedrooms needed a HIP from the 1st August 2007, three bedrooms 10th September and everything else the 14th December.0 -
why not look in the HIPs pack.. does this not contain a commissioned date, or at least a date the searches were carried out?
whops.. ^^^ posted as i was typing.. lolThe only place where success comes before work is the dictionary…

That's a good idea.
1.Just go to upmystreet and put in your area. Then click on "read your neighbourhood profile".
2. At the bottom of the next page click on "search for a property in (the area you requested)".
3. On the next page click "find" and it will then give the date the properties were listed.
I just looked up a property in our street that I know went on in October and then the price was reduced. upmystreet is showing the original date the house went on, but with the new price (no mention of the old price).RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
