On the advice of some of the posters of the debt-free wannabe board, I've looked at my mobile bill and how much i use it, and decided to call O2 to see if I could reduce the rate I'm paying.
I spoke to a wonderfully helpful customer service person who then checked with their 'disconnection' dept, to see if they could offer me something better than the standard rates, and they've offered me the basic deal at £16 per month, but added an extra 100 texts for free, so now, instead of £28 or so a month, I'll be paying about £16.
Might be worth a try - just call up and plead poverty!
