Just wanted to add for anyone (like moi!) who has just recieved their free tub of haagen daaz ice cream voucher - might be worth going to tesco to redeem this one as they currrently have a 2 for £5 deal ...you can see what happens.0

Bravo ben500, whilst I applaud your courage to stand your ground I have to admit that if I were behind you in the supermarket, I wouldn't be happy but not for the reason you might assume
I have mobility problems and by the time I get to the checkout I am in a lot of pain and discomfort. However, at the risk of sounding like a NIMBY, I am all for a customer getting what is rightfully theirs and I used to (and still do so at times,) fight for my rights if a shop is in the wrong.
ben500 wrote:To answer your question I frequently do with the aid of documentation from their head office, as for the 8 or so customers that may be behind me I have several ways of viewing and dealing with them, should they be critical I would merely tell them to mind their own busines and keep there noses out of my transaction unless they are prepared to allow me to interfere in thiers and perhaps scrutinise their payment method for my own approval, if as I find in most cases they are gobsmacked at what is unfolding before their eyes I thank them for their patience whilst Tesco staff are bickering between themselves and once my transaction is fulfilled I generally like to pass out some coupons to the remainder of the queue as compensation for their inconvenience, (this also serves to deter future repetition of such a challenge) bear in mind there are many tills in each supermarket you can always go to another if you find yourself caught behind me educating staff as to their own companies policy and I see nothing wrong in gaining a reward for doing so they must have saved a fortune in staff training.

I do recall seeing a thread once that mentioned that one particular supermarket *do* take store specific vouchers. Is that an Asda policy? Or am I hallucinating?ben500 wrote:Tesco Head Office policy is that they will accept one of each coupon you present providing they sell the product, it is not store specific ((ie it is not distributed by a competitor such as Sainsbury) it is within its valid redemption date and of course not altered or mutilated in any way.Whoever said everything was possible obviously hasn't tried slamming a revolving door

Not sure but I do know that unlike Tesco's tills the Asda ones are so poor that they never refuse any coupons at all - so if the checkout person scans it then you'll get the money off.0 -

right and wrong Asda's coupon policy is in as much a mess as Tesco's at the moment insomuch as they seem to be operating different policies in different areas dependant on local competition. But whilst I'm not too sure about them actually taking competitors coupons they do price match locally upon production of printed matter.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0
