Hiya
We just started a new challenge for living from your store cupboard this in March, so I'll move your post across to it.
I'm sure you'll find plenty of help and support.

Hi DawnW :hello:
I will have to try to join in here too..... The cupboards are full, the freezer is full to bursting, I have drawers of staples (rice, pasta lentils you name it) yet the feeling of 'we have nothing in' is driving me crazy...
I will put my best foot forward for 2 weeks at which point we are going away (without DD age 5) but my parents are coming here to look after her. I have already batch cooked all their meals for the week (they loathe cooking, and I want them all to eat well!), but want to get the unnecessary stock levels down a bit so they can find what they need
And when it is all a bit emptier, I will be able to clean the fridge and cupboards prior to their arrival
Tonight we are having salmon/prawn pies (all ingredients from freezer), with chips (Freezer-and I want rid of them, they do nothing for the waistline), peas (F) followed by apple/blackberry crumble (F and cupboards) and cream (leftover from this week).
Milk is delivered, I make my own bread - so really, I hope we will be able to avoid the shops completely for the two weeks - if not more!
I have a feeling I will find this really hard (even though it should be really easy), but I need to stop the 'buying food' habit.....0 -

It's a pain when that happens....with your chicken soup...could you not cook some pasta and then put some leftover chicken into the soup and combine with the pasta.
It could be finished off in the oven...possibly you could try only part cooking the pasta and then it might absorb some of the soup.
Same with the tuna....pasta bake..depending upon how chickeny the soup is, you could use that as a cream sauce for the bake.;) (don't let on, they'll never know)Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

Wow! Loads of you joining in - brilliant. Got home from work late (again), did sausages, potatoes, with leeks and kale from the garden, just the two of us tonight. Trout tomorrow, one of OH's friends keeps catching really big ones, and some of them end up in our freezer! In this month's Sainsburys mag there is a recipe for a fish bake using trout fillets from Jamie Oliver, so have to get the filleting knife out and try that for dinner tomorrow evening; probably my daughter and her boyfriend will turn up too. Eggs for breakfast, and HM soup from the freezer for lunch. And it is shopping day. I wonder how much I will have to spend? Not much hopefully.0

I should join in, March for me started on Monday. Since Monday I have spent £8.50 on fresh stuff mainly inc veg etc in the hope of using up some of the stocks this month to save on grocery spending. I also must get a freezer defrosted at some point so need to empty one to do that. Is a lot of breads etc in there so not all 'meals food'. I have a sort of meal plan which I need to rejig slightly. Only thing I will need for over the weekend is ham which I forgot to check.
Baking cupboard is going to get lots of use this weekend, I have a cupboard full of stuff so will be making something. Have been getting requests from the family so on the requests list is maderia cake with cherries, spiced fruit cake (no idea of a recipe for this so will be in my books unless someone has one?) chcolate brownies, cookies, sultana scones.........so plenty to keep me busy (if I get them all done another matter as have coursework to do)One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
