How do I do this?
I currently have a contract with Orange that is due to expire on 3rd March, which is Monday. I don't want this anymore and wish to go back to PAYG but I would like to keep my phone number.
I have a new phone but it is locked to Vodafone. I'm not sure of the best way of keeping my old number.
Will Orange cancel my old number on Monday when I tell them that I don't wish to renew my contract? If so, will I still be able to get the PAC code (or whichever code I need) to transfer that number to Vodafone PAYG, or can I ask Orange to transfer the number to an Orange PAYG sim and then unlock the phone?
Which is the easiest way to keep my old number but on PAYG. It was originally a Vodafone PAYG number but I transferred it to Orange some years ago.
Thanks

I'm no expert, but from what I've read, you ask for your PAC code. Then when they give it to you, you need to contact Vodafone (with the code) who then transfer your number. I understand that once you have your PAC code, you have 3 days to achieve transfer, after that your number is lost. Once Vodafone have the code it can take up to a week for your old number to be activated on the new phone.
edit: just seen bringmeshoes' post(below) - 30 days sounds better. Guess I was mistaken.0 -
just call orange and tell them you want a pac code to take to PAYG, this lasts for 30 days so all you need to do is transfer this within the 30 day period and this will cancel your contract. if you do not use pac code within 30 days it will expire and your orange contract will just carry on
you would probably need to get your handset unlocked if you stay on orange PAYGThe only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about - Oscar Wilde:beer:
