SKY Box Freeview channels?

I got a freeview box and ditched Sky when I moved house.Much of the free stuff on Sky is dross, Holy Channels, Shopping Channels etc. etc.
I had intended to do it as a temporary measure before signing up again, but I really don't miss anything on Sky except for Paramount Comedy.
It's not worth paying £16 a month just for that though, as dvds of every show on there are readily available.
Ironically when I had Sky, I spent a great deal of time watching the dross, to see how bad it could get. I was a huge fan of a show called Bikini Beach where a female presenter (in a bikini) had to talk unscripted for hours on end, filling time between letting "callers" (producers) phone up and win prizes. It was so bad, that it was brilliant.
Also, The Debbie and Kevin Show.. on YouTV..was interesting. The show, featuring an apparently better-known-in-America Kevin, and British model Debbie Flett, was claimed to be a regular show where the two main hosts would discuss all manner of subjects with guests. Subjects included everything from pollution, to a guy who claimed he could photograph people's auras.
I think they must have only made about 4 episodes though, because I've seen the aura photography one at least 20 times, and I only ever found it by chance, flicking through randomly.0 -
There are a few foreign channels which my parents are interested in watching, which are available free-to-air
So the best bet then is probably just to get this one off thing with sky?0 -
Another aspect to consider if you choose to install the Free/Sat from Sky,you will have no need to change your existing tv as it is already recieving the digital signal.I choose Free/Sat when my roof top aeriel needed replacing, which would have cost me £180.:j0

Foreign channels eh?There are a few foreign channels which my parents are interested in watching, which are available free-to-air
Nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more.
I am only joking.. I know there aren't any free-to-air channels of that type on Sky (not without adjusting the dish and buying an aftermarket satellite receiver anyway).
The best free-to-air channel I managed to "add" to the existing ones (but doesn't show up in Sky's listing normally) was Costcutter's instore radio! The music wasn't bad, but all the djs talked about was the current price of teabags and loo roll.0 -

What i was trying to convey was if your existing tv is CRT there will be no need to change it when system transfers to digital in 2012, and freeview boxes dont last forever.0

freesat from sky can be bought from agros or currys/dixons for a one off payment of £75

http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/editorial/Sky%20Offer
you also get 4 months free subscription channels
or buy subscription pacjkage through quidco (£130 cashback)
£16 X 12 months= £192
£192-£130= £62
so for £62 you get mix and match for 1 year. (Assuming that your quidco will be tracked)0 -

playboy 1 is free to air on sky
its american does that count as foreign?0 -
I can't believe no one has mentioned the upcoming Freesat service. OP, I'd strongly recommend you wait a couple of months until Freesat (free-to-air satellite service from the BBC and ITV) launches.
Unlike with Freesat from Sky, with Freesat you'll get HD content for free (subscription-only on Sky), its own fully featured EPG (unlike !!!!!!'s crippled EPG) and no regular tempting goodies from Sky to get you to subscribe to their pay service.
The true cost of something is what you give up to get it.0
